Hi

I am flying into orlando international on a flight from the Uk and I am concerned about how I will cope.

The reasons I am concerned is that

I will be flying with 2 young children (aged 3&5) alone - (Not the original plan my mother was going to come with us but has had some very serious medical issues and operations and can't fly now).

I have a bad back (It is quite severe and long term) and I am not suposed to lift anything heavy - I will need to take at least 3 suitcases, 1 pushchair and 2 carseats and enough handluggage to keep 2 young children entertained on a 9 hour flight (arghhh) as we are staying for about 6 weeks (fortunately my DH will come out halfway and so I will be fine (its all relative) for the journey home but I'm dreading the journey out.

I know I will be ok at the UK airport as my husband will take me to check in etc but I am worried about arriving at Orlando international as they have the double baggage check system. I know from previous trips that they have porters at the second baggage pick up (and hope passionately that they still have them) but its the bit from initially picking up luggage , going through customs and then re-dropping the baggage that I am worried about.

I am going to arrange a nanny for when we are there as I know I can't physically cope with the children on my own (I also have bad asthma and bronchiectasis) but that won't be until we get to the villa.

I can get Doctors letters to prove my issues - do you think this would help?

I don't know whether this would count as a disability for this site but any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Jo

I know they have carts that you can rent for around $4.00 that would make it easier to get throught the airport. I don't know if you can use them through customs though. I would call the airport and ask for assistance for medical reasons. Have them make note on your reservations that you will need assistance at Orlando. I would also kindly ask the flight crew to call ahead when you get close to landing and ask for assistance, due to medical reasons. They should be able to tell you what can be done.

I don't know who you're flying with but I know that with Virgin you can call them (either VA or VH) and arrange help on medical grounds - your back and so on should be more than enough. If that doesn't help sufficiently, try the airport... :goodvibes
