i am just wondering if you can help, over the last ten years when i have visited W.D.W i have allways landed and departed from sandford international.
But since Travel City Direct has been taken over by Virgin they land at O.I.A.
The last time i was there was in 1991 a long time ago.
whats it like and whats the area like to get youre hire car's ?

i hope you can help.
thanks les m

hi

We were there on Monday, it's a nice airport, there are quite a few shops and eateries in the check in area, not so much when you go through security.

With regard to the car hire it depends who you hire from, there are quite a few companies on site to hire from and their parking garage is just outside the airport building over the road, we always find it very simple to get the car, DH usually goes and gets checked in with the hire company while I wait for the luggage at the carousel.

Hope that helps....

Here is a link to Orlando Airports arrival guide - shows you step by step arrival process.

As for car hire there are desks on both sides for the main hire companies on level 1. Baggage claim in generally level 2 however Virgin used to have a special belt on level 1 (belt 8A) but this was not in use last time as we had to get our luggage from level 2 side A.

Its so easy - we love the airport :thumbsup2

It's a great airport!
We find it easy when we arrive to get through and get to the cars etc
And great when we depart, with a great selection of shops and restaurants :)

Can't comment on car hire as we use DME. However, the airport is lovely, small stalls once you are thro security a couple of coffee shops, newsagents and quite reasonable duty free. Loads of loos (spot the mother!)

Hassle free to be honest each time we've been through there.

There are two terminals though and this seems to cause some confusion. Not sure why as its nothing like the size of Gatwick.

As airports go it is pretty good with a Chillis and Romanos Macaroni grill inside along with A Disney shop and a Universal shop to get those last minute gifts. You can pick cars up from terminal A and B and once you get in the car it is well sign posted to all the tourist areas.

you get to ride the monorail before you get to disney !!!!

loads of shops disney and universal shops in there

rental car pick up just over road from rental desks

baggage pick up quick

go to passport control nearest the american nationals one as they call you through when no locals at line .
