Orlando Hyatt

I attend a conference at this property each fall. This is not your typical Hyatt. There are four two-story stucco buildings, no elevators, central hallway. Each building has a pool, hot-tub, and playground area. The transportation to parks is scheduled Mears buses (no flexibility). There is a nice breakfast and lunch buffet in the hotel dining room. Usual hotel room but wierd bath--small shower area, not full size tub. I reviewed the hotel on Brian Bennett's site www.mouseplanet.com

I stayed there for a week in June and once in 2000. I love the hotel. I think it is best to have a rental car here and is a very short drive to the parks on 192. I appreciated the short walk from the car to the room each night. Only a few rooms have tubs but I was able to get one both stays. It pays to request a room away from noisy I-4.

For the $32 I paid using Priceline, it is a great deal.

I heard the owners filed for bankrupcy protection in May to prevent a forclosure sale. The Hyatt only manages it. The hotel was full during most of my stay in June and was in great condition. Hopefully, they will receive the funding they need to stay in business.

Owner of 919 room Hyatt Orlando in Kissimmee,

May 2--One of Osceola County's largest hoteliers has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, preventing the building's sale at a foreclosure auction on Wednesday. Orlando Hyatt Hotel Associates LP of Rockville, Md., owns the Hyatt Orlando on U.S. Highway 192 near Interstate 4 in Kissmmee. The company filed its reorganization petition on Friday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Orlando. Hyatt Corp. manages the 919-room hotel but isn't an owner. Spokeswoman Lori Armon said on Wednesday that "Hyatt will continue to manage the hotel regardless of the owner, at this point."
LaSalle Bank National Association of Illinois foreclosed on Orlando Hyatt in January after the company missed a mortgage payment. State Circuit Court records in Kissimmee show Orlando Hyatt owing the bank $29.5 million, including penalties and interest. Orlando Hyatt attorney Scott Shuker said on Wednesday that the company will challenge that amount in bankruptcy court. Orlando Hyatt isn't the only Osceola County hotelier to fail since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C., pounded Central Florida's tourist economy -- though it is the largest

Since the first of the year, at least two smaller lodging establishments have been sold at court-ordered auctions, and "there are rumblings about three or four more," said Janak Desai, president of the Orlando/Kissimmee Hotel Motel Association. Others are struggling, taking on additional debt to pay bills in hopes that business improves soon, he said. "It's a roller coaster that we are on," Desai said. "We have spurts of good times and spurts of bad times." Business has slacked off since Easter, he said, but hoteliers say they are hopeful for a strong summer.

Excellent off-site location - just adjacent to the I4 ramp so only a few minutes to any park or Downtown Disney.

Our favourite thing about it was the deli open until 1am each night so we could get a snack before bedtime.

Thanks for the replies. One follow up, has this always been a hyatt or could it have been another chain at one point, thanks again.

It reminds me more of a large Holiday Inn as opposed to what you would think a Hyatt would be like. We stayed there many years ago and were less than impressed.. It was not bad per se, just not what I expected from a Hyatt.. If you are getting a good rate from Priceline or some other source, you probably will be satisfied. If you are paying rack rate or close to 100.00 per night, you may not be as happy. If you do stay there, make sure to request a room that faces away from the expressway.. Some rooms front on I-4.
