So we have just under 4weeks in USA in November. We are flying into LAX, myself and DH have been there before (LA, SFO).
The main purpose of the trip is to go to Orlando, i have lived and worked in the USA before so have been to many places, the kids are only 5 and 7, Im not too concerned with making this a cultural trip for them so museums in DC and NYC are not top of our list. I love NYC but will be cold in november
I am torn between just going to Florida for the whole time, or doing 2weeks in Orlando and then going somewhere else. I LOVE disney, but fear that we will get theme parked out! BUT....im reluctant to have to pack for 2 climates if we were to go somewhere else in the US! The prices for accommodation in Orlando are so good, its really going to hit our budget to stay somewhere else....but I just dont know!
anyway, what do the Orlando experts think, 4wks too long or can we find plenty of other things to do (Ive been to Orlando before but only for 3wks and we spent some time driving around the Keys as well, without kids)

An option I thought of was flying LAX to Cancun, 1 week there and then onto orlando for the rest of the time, but think this will just eat into the budget too much? No idea what cost of living is like there

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Cruise!!!! :banana::banana:

So cheap and convenient to Disney to cruise out of Port Canaveral!!!

I second the cruise option in Nov you could do a Disney cruise out of LA as well also if your flying in and out of LA why not add a few days there as well.

ohhhhh id love to do a cruise BUT....DS7 gets horriblysea sick and DS5 hates boats!!!

When you fly into LA, could you drive down to San Deigo for a week, then head over to Orlando?

But really, I have stayed 23 nights at WDW, we did change resorts mid way though, so it felt like a different holiday (sort of :rotfl: ) moving from AKL to the Beach Club, but once we didn't we stayed at the same resort the whole time.

But I could stay 4 weeks in Orlando. Plenty of time for shopping at the different malls and outlet malls to break up park days, days by the pool (maybe not in November) or at the resort, mini golf, the parks, maybe Seaworld, Legoland, Kennedy Space Centre and the airboats (really fun, but freezing, rug up if you do that), Universal, Gatorland. There is heaps to keep you occupied for 4 weeks!

Gosh....it's been a while since I've been to Cancun. We thoroughly enjoyed the cool sand, warm days, gentle breeze in the air and Mexican culture.

There are heaps of gorgeous 5 and 6 star hotels on the "Isla Tourista". The island is shaped like a number 7 with the more opulent hotels spread down the lower end of the long side.

We hired a car to drive round and also made it out to Merida. But you can do day trips from Cancun out to Chichen Itza, Cozumel and also to Xcaret. And then there is the lagoon/mangroves to explore on the inside of the number 7.

We found a couple of 3 - 4 star hotels just at the turn of the 7 that faced the Caribbean Ocean side. If you can find one that is reasonable, then it could well be a cheaper option. We were paying around the US$100 a night (or less) for these hotels. I think these hotels were near where the ferry to Isla Mujeres started from. I would avoid the hotels on the short side of the 7; the beaches aren't anywhere near as nice.

Food wise, we thought it was quite cheap to eat in Cancun; if you're headed into the old town area. There is a bus that will take you into town. If you stay on the Tourist Island, food will be more expensive.

I second the idea of going to San Diego. There's lots to do there and with boys, they might like going to the USS Midway. You could also look into spending a couple of days at Catalina Island, if the activity there appeals. But beware...Catalina is $$$$.

Another alternative might be to stop in Hawaii for a week or so.
