Since I mentioned it on another thread, I thought maybe I'd start a new post in order to see whether anyone here has visited the Orlando Eye?

I'm thinking of carving a bit of time out of my upcoming Uni vacation to do it, but I'm not sure whether it'll be worth the time or the money...? (btw the "special" ticket that includes a glass of champagne or a soft drink is $14 more than the regular ticket... and that's the ONLY difference I can find between the two tickets????)

Any advice? How long does it take to get there from Uni? Is it worth a visit?

THANKS!!! :-)

According to the map on the Eye website, it looks like it's only a few minutes drive from Uni.

we went this year as i got free tickets for the eye. madame tussauds and sea life, only takes a few minutes from universal hotel taxi was $20 each way, we did it in half day, offered the extra ticket but declined and would have done so if i had paid fortickets in first place, not worth it, be aware when you go into each area they will take a picture which they try and sell you for $40 at end of attraction, we also declined this as not worth it, they also have some fast food places in the main hall, the chinese is lovely

You can skip the photo op. . . . . We did.
Just told them we were not interested in having our photo taken.

We went on this a few weeks ago. We did the eye only and had a pod to ourselves. It was a nice ride, goes by quick, and is very overpriced. There were speakers and computer screen type things in the pod but they basically did nothing. We couldn't see much at night (no theme parks, etc).

After the ride I was hounded by some guy trying to sell me the photo:

"I can give you all 4 pictures for $40" - "I'm not interested"... he then takes me to the side and acts like he doesn't want another potential buyer to hear him and whispers... "For you today I can sell you them for $25" - "I'm not interested." - He then acted offended. What else could one expect in a timeshare city like Orlando.

we declined the photos but they were not happy we did ended up ust walking away as i was getting annoyed with pressure

I think it must depend on which staff member you get. We were offered the photos, declined, and were not pressured any further.

We were thinking about checking this out on our December trip, but I'm second guessing that now. I don't need any pushy sales guys in my face on vacation. I can be pretty intimidating looking so they would probably leave us alone, but they don't deserve our money if they employ these tactics.

Tripadvisor reviews are overwhelmingly positive.....I don't think you have anything to worry about. We really enjoyed it.....enough that we're doing it again this Christmas (with the Sea Life Aquarium and Tussaud's too).

When the photo sales folks offer you the pictures, if you don't want them, just say no and keep walking.

We likely won't be doing it this trip but are thinking about doing it on another trip. For those who homeschool like us, check out the homeschool discount. It's on many Tuesdays.

My mother went and really enjoyed it. We're waiting because the combo ticket seems to be the best deal and I have one kid petrified of fish so the aquarium will be tough with that child.
