Anyone know if the Catholic churches in Orlando will perform a wedding for a couple not from the area? I thought I remembered someone posting about this but I couldn't find it.
DD is thinking about Orlando or Hilton Head. We found a church on HH that will but haven't heard anything yet about Orlando.
TIA!

I am not from the area but here is a website with Catholic Churches in Orlando. http://www.masstimes.org/dotNet/sho...rica&city=Orlando&countrycode=US&statecode=FL You would have to call to find out the particulars but I don't know why they would turn you away if you have the proper documentation and if they are not booked for the day. Also I know in NY you need pre cana classes, I not sure if that is a requirement in all Archdiocese's. Good Luck and Happy Wedding Day!!!!! :bride:  :groom:

Actually many catholic churches in orlando will not marry you unless you are a parishinor. I have heard of St. James Cathedral in downtown orlando performing marriages for out of town couples. Also I have heard of some disney brides getting married at Holy Family Church, however I am not sure if you have to be a parishinor. I would look into those two churches.

You might check the Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine. When we were planning our WDW event the Deacon from our church asked if we had looked there, but we had decided to have our event onsite at WDW. It is close to WDW, and very nice.

Mary Queen of the universe does not do weddings or any sacraments. Atleast that is what they told me when I went there to inquire for my wedding. I wish they did. Its a beautiful church. Good luck with the search!

We had no luck with Mary, Queen of the Universe when we looked into them either. Our parish priest did offer to contact them for us, but after the running around we had done up to that point, we decided we wanted to get married on Disney property, and nixed the idea.

Sorry I haven't posted. Holy Family, St James and the Shrine were all on my list. Here's what I found out.
We attend Holy Family when we are in Orlando. You must be a parishener to get marrid there. However, she did ask me if we wanted to become members. That still would not help my DD.
The Shrine is just that a shrine. They are not a parish and do not perform any sacraments.
The church on HH has changed their policy. Will only marry a couple whose parents or grandparents are current members.
The good news is St James Catherdral will! The lady I spoke with was very helpfull. Now DD must contact her parish to see if her pastor will agree to put together the "marriage file" that will nedd to be sent to the cathedral. We are even allowed to bring in our own preist (family friend) if we wish.
