Hi I am undecided if we will order a cake from a disney bakery to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation and father's day. We are staying at Boardwalk so I have to research if we will order from disney. The other option might be to order from a local bakery and possible get two cakes, one for DD and one for father's day. We will have a rental car so if needed I can go pick it up. I do not want a generic cake from a grocery store. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated:)

We are doing the same.. I was given names from the cake thread..

I second Public. We actually WANTED a Disney cake but they were making it so difficult, and expensive.

We ended up at Public and the cake was wonderful! Not only did they decorate it so perfectly, they gave us a cake cutter too.

There is a public maybe 4-5 minutes from magic kingdom and they have an amazing bakery department.

If you want an AMAZING cake, I highly recommend that you go with getting a cake from It's Tasty Too. It's about 20 minutes from Disney but they will deliver to you at Walt Disney World.

They are providing our Groom's cake for our wedding this June!

I ordered my 40th birthday cake from Disney and I wish I had gone with my original plan to get it from Publix. It was expensive and so sweet that it was almost unedible. It looked good but overall I was disappointed.

I just contacted a local bakery called Sprinkles about a cake for my father's birthday and cupcakes for my daughter's birthday. The owner was very nice and responded to my email very quickly. I decided not to go with them though as the delivery fee was $75. He did provide information for a courier service that would be cheaper. But I just wasn't sure about it. His quote for a 1 layer 10 inch fondant cake decorated in a poker theme was $85. I'm still thinking about if it is worth it to just drive there and pick it up. But still it will be July and I'm afraid the cake would ruin in the heat. Oh well. Maybe this information might help someone else out?

We ordered a cake from Disney for our honeymoon, and while it was very pretty it tasted terrible. I have a huge sweet tooth and yet barely at any of it; it basically tasted like a frozen Sara Lee cake but cost about 5x as much. I'd go with off-site if I were you. (PS we were staying at POR so I think it came from Boardwalk?)

May be a little far for you(30 minutes from disney), but there is a Sweet! in Orlando :thumbsup2 they have really good cupcakes, but will also do one ginourmous cupcake like the size of a cake. three time winner on cupcake wars on the food network. wish they were closer to us as they don't ship their cupcakes!!!!
