Just FYI: The city of Orlando leaped past Miami and other large cities to become the nations 11th most dangerous city, according to a private research group's controversial analysis of FBI crime statistics. The annual "City Crime Rankings Crime in metropolitan America" that was published by CQ Press, a unit of Congressional Quarterly Inc, lists Detroit and St. Louis as the most most dangerous cities in America. maybe a good reason to stay on property? :confused3 :santa:

PS: Yea, I know it isn't even Thanksgiving yet, but I thought it was time for Santa anyway......;)

I also read that report. I live between detroit and another top 5 Flint. The town I live in is a great place to live and very safe. I'm about 45 minutes from detroit and 15 or so from Flint. An employee of mine was driving down the freeway close to flint last month and someone threw a rock through his wind sheild and the glass went into his eye's. He was told had the rock hit him in the head it would have killed him. His little one's were in the back seat sleeping. When I visit Dsis who live's on the other side of Flint I go out of my way to not drive the freeway through Flint. Sometime's I get lost in my own little world and forget I live so close to all this :scared1: :scared1: . Detroit was complaining about how bad the article made them look:confused3 . I do have to say i'm not surprised by Orlando being on the list. Susan

Orlando had a record murder rate in 2006 but it is way down this year. However, most of these occurred in the inner city districts of Parramore and Pine Hills, places tourists are not likely to venture.

Stay away from:
1) Orange Blossom Trail north of the Florida Mall and south of John Young Parkway/Lee Road.
2) Areas west of the Amway Arena near downtown all the way west to the suburb of Ocoee.

Crime can happen anywhere but the above areas are where most of it happens. Outside those areas crime is very low.

Not at all suprised about Orlando either. Am suprised that Baltimore isn't at the top.

Exactly. The Sentinel ran a map marking where each murder this year occurred--the "touristy" SW quadrant was empty (and that doesn't even extend as far as WDW, which is outside Orlando).

Correct, the cities of Lake Buena Vista and Bay Lake did not make the Top 20 list this year although some posters would have you believe there is a crime wave going on at DTD!
