We wanted to take my 9yo to LEGOLAND Fl. while my 13yo goes to Australia without us. It didn't look like it was going to happen because of finances but now it is and it is going to be July 4 to July 10 2013. As you can see it is last minute. Some of the hotels with water slides are sold out. My plan was to stay at a hotel near LEGOLAND for 3 days doing 2 days at LEGOLAND and one day at Dinosaur World and then moving to a hotel with a slide in Orlando so we will be closer to the airport for when we leave. I don't really want to spend 150 or more a night just because of a waterslide because I am not sure my son would use it all that much anyway. I have found some that are decent prices with our military discounts but then when you add in the resort or parking fees it goes over what I want to pay. Is there such a thing as a hotel in Orlando area that has a waterslide for around 100 dollars:confused3? Do you know of any in Winter Haven near LEGOLAND that would work too? He doesn't want to do the waterpark at LEGOLAND so that is why I am thinking he might not be that into it to spend a lot of money on a hotel. Thanks.

Go to the end of this thread:

and use Rupert Puppenstein's link in his signature to get the Holiday Inn "Friends and Family" rate. The Orange Lake Holiday Inn Resort with pool slide & lazy river comes up at $109 (prepaid) with free parking.

Holiday Inn Club Vacations At Orange Lake Resort includes a 12-acre waterpark with lake and beach; 7 pools, including a Splash Lagoon, a water slide, and an interactive fountain; 6 tennis courts, a movie theater; and 54 holes of golf.

I just entered 7/7 - 7/10 for you and it's less than $100 per night. It may or may not have a resort fee.

WOW. Just one more question. All this talk about a voucher, will that print out after I confirm the reservations and that is what I give them when I check in? I don't want to book it ahead if that is not correct because it is non-refundable. Thanks. I just booked a hotel with a little splash area but I am loving the lazy river thing myself so I may change the reservations, the hotel you are suggesting is only 2 dollars more.

Oh no, tripadvisor.com is showing that they recently had bedbugs. Now I am second guessing. Since a lot of people are complaining about the time share thing there I think I will stay where we are. It says over and over that in order to get tubes for the lazy river or to use the slide you have to do the time share presentation or spend 60 dollars.

No idea sorry! Ask over on the Holiday Inn thread. Rupert Puppenstien is very friendly!

Thanks for the info. I have never heard of any of these websites. If I don't use them now, I am sure I will find them useful sometime in the future!

I wouldn't worry about the bedbug reports, try to find a hotel that doesn't have reports of bedbugs and you will see that there are a lot of reports out there. Just do your due dillegence when you check in and make sure there are no signs of bedbugs and you will be ok.

The time share push at Orange Lake is not nearly as bad as some people claim it is ... they ask you when you check in and if you stick to your guns and tell them no, they will not bother you again. They don't come to the room, they don't call and they definitely don't bother you when you're on property.

The lazy River and the two waterslides in the pool area are free to use for everyone. If you want to rent a tube then there is a cost but you don't need a tube to use the lazy river.

There is another section in the very back of the River Island location called the "Fun Zone" that has a large water slide, rock wall, a euro-bungee jump
and a miniature golf course ... all of this is extra cost.

Honestly we stay here all the time and have never been disappointed. The only thing is that the hotel is not very close to Legoland, so it is a bit of a drive.

jerms, I am glad you like that resort. We may have to try it on our next visit. I agree that even if a hotel doesn't have bed bug reports now they might by the time we arrive so there is not much to do about it.

Gina, I did check out the flamingo one. That is too far out of budget with all the extra stuff. The hotel I did book was because of someone else's review on here so I do appreciate all your input!
