I have been doing some research, and can't find an answer to the following questions - do any of you experts know the answers and/or places I could find the answers?

1. Did Disney World use the A-E ticket system like Disneyland? Everywhere I look, they only have examples of Disneyland ticket books.

2. What were the originial E-ticket rides, if they did use the ticket books at Disney World?

Thanks SO much!!

I think they did use the A-E ticket system.
I don't know a way to look up all of the rides by what ticket was used but you can look up each ride individually, which shouldn't take too much time.
I'll start you out with a link to Jungle Cruise :thumbsup2

Here the text makes it sound like it was used but the example is, of course, for Disneyland. :confused3

I'll look forward to seeing what you find out!

Yes, they did use the A-E ticket system. I remember having to figure out which "E" rides to pick. They were: Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Country Bears, Haunted Mansion, Hall of Presidents, It's a Small World, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea and Space Mountain. (I cheated an googled this)

in fantasy land you have probably noticed the random brown brick circle in the center of the pathway over near it's a small world i belive. That is where one of the ticket windows use to reside.

I am surprised that the Haunted Mansion wasn't an original e-ride. Does anyone know if Google missed it (from Kaitysmom's message), or if it came later, or...???

The last ride to open in Walt Disney World to carry an E Ticket designation was Splash Mountain.

And yes, the Haunted Mansion was an E ticket attraction.

You worried me there Disneyaholic23! I had Haunted Mansion listed - or should I say Google did as all I could definitely remember was Space Mountain. :)

This site has a picture of a Magic Kingdom E-ticket with all of the attractions listed. It seems to be a pre-Splash Mountain E-ticket, though.

Cheers,

Can't add any additional information, but just wanted to say I love all this nostalgia! :thumbsup2

I remember when I went back in 1979 (yes I'm old :rotfl2:, I was in 8th grade ) that we were given booklets with A - E tickets in them, and that they only allotted you so many tickets in each category! I do remember that basically all the "good" rides were considered to be "E" tickets! :thumbsup2

Huh? I thought the A-E coupons were phased out in the early 80s. At least, they were in Disneyland. Did WDW keep them until Splash Mountain was introduced in 1992??

WDW got rid of the A-E ticket system in 1982. Splash Mtn opened in 1992. I think you're thinking of Big Thunder Mtn Railroad, which opened in 1980, and would have been the last E-ticket ride at WDW.

My Mom still has some of the old paper tickets. Our early trips were in 1972 (I was turning 3, WDW was turning 1) and 1974. Speaking of nostalgia she also has an old souvenir backscratcher with Mickey and his hands are up and that is what you use to scratch your back. It is so cute!

On a fun side note...

They used to have "E-Ticket Nights" for resort guests, not THAT long ago - 1998 / 1999

$10 got you 5 hours in the park - for "E" rides - and then some.

Thing was, not too many people knew about it. It was INSANE CRAZY EMPTY at the MK those night. Blissfully so. :goodvibes :cloud9:

It's called Extra Magic Hour now, but in 2000, Disney had a thing where Resort guests could get wristbands for the longer hours; and only certain attractions would be staying open late; and those attractions were, you guessed it, the E ride levels. HM, BTMRR, SM, and so on. Although I think a few of the less exciting attractions also stayed open, like the Jamboree. It's the only time I've ever ridden BTMRR 'enough times' in my life, back to back to back to back to ...... :)

My mom also has an old ticket book from DL in the 70's. I doubt it has any E's!! We were SO thrilled when we went in '87 and that system was gone at WDW.

Also in 2000, BTMRR ran backwards....any one else remember this?

At WDW, you not only got the coupon book with your entry ticket with the various rides - a,b,c,d,E, but there were kiosks (I remember one in Fantasyland) where you could buy multiple rides of various categories separately. I remember once buying a HUGE # of C tickets because we had 9 kids with us and most everything in Fantasyland was C tckt rides ie. Peter Pan, Snow White, Dumbo, TeaCups, etc. Needless to say they had run out of their allotment in the ticket books! This was spring 1972. More trivia - we also paid $22 per night at the Polynesian!!!!!! Now you KNOW we are ancient!

There is an old ticketbooth that is still there where Adventure Land transitions into Frontierland. It is a small shack that is now a gift shop/kiosk. They pointed it out on our Keys to the Kingdom tour. I think he mentioned that there is another one as well somewhere in the park.

I meant Big Thunder Mountain.

Sometimes I type faster than my brain works.

Sorry for the confusion.

Kevin
