Origin of your Disboard User Name

Interesting post, OP, thanks for starting it.
Mine is pretty obvious being that I was a big Disney fan and I am not a teenager anymore, LOL.
I would like to change it, but won't if it's a lot of trouble to do.

Unfortunately, we can't change names over here. The only way to do it, is to create a whole new account.

Okay....but why did I never realize that's what Blue Starry Hat was in reference to?? I feel dumb. 🤣

Aww, I love that. And it's crazy to me that your real name isn't Thomas!

Growing up, my mom always said catty wampus. Love it.
There was a Thomas involved in the funny event. It just wasn't me. :)

When I first joined in the late 90s, we'd just gotten a little kitten from the animal rescue league. As I was joining (my first forum) and trying to choose a user name, our new kitten jumped into my lap, and I became Simba's Mom. Simba went over the Rainbow Bridge 10 years ago, and I decided to keep the name as a memory of him.

So I've been out of college like 23 years now but...

When I started as a freshman, you were assigned a username based off your first initial of first name, first initial of your middle name, and first four letters of your last name.

My first name is Melissa, my middle name also started with an m, and my last name began with brad. Then apparently my university already had someone with that combination so I was assigned "02" at the end. Most students were that combo with "01"

That said, my dis username is my username for a lot of things because it was a bit unique and not often already taken (and something I could remember).

When I first joined, I had two kids who were 1 and 3. Now I have three kids who are 25, 23, and 20. I have felt bad through the years that the third kid is not mentioned. I should be K, K, and J's Mom. Or, I might change it to something completely different since my kids are grown!

I was really, really, really into The Lion King and wanted something Disney-adjacent.
It's still one of my favorite movies and honestly, it kinda worked out when I got assigned Kilimanjaro Safaris on my College Program! 🦁 (We don't need to talk about how long ago that was, though. I was VERY active on the College board back in the day.)

It was an easy choice since I use the same name anywhere I am on the internet going back 25 to 30 years now. I'm a collector of inkwells so "Inkmahm" fits me well.

I'm curious how everyone came up with their Disboard username. What's the backstory or reference?

Do you still like it? If you could change it, what would you change it to?
It's been discussed before:

EDIT" Sorry, I can't seem to be able to actually post a link here.

But do a search of this forum for
"Your Username"

and
"how did you come up with your DIS username"

and
"What does your screenname mean"

My username is quite obviously named off the very first plush I got on actual Disney property, Stitch. Ever since I set foot on the hallowed grounds of the Magic Kingdom, I have turned into what they call a Disney adult. Go ahead, bash me, talk dirty, but there’s just something about that magic in the air when I entered that place. Even before I entered, I was stanning hard on the cartoons that were on Disney Channel in 2024, especially Molly McGee. That short where Scratch called the Haunted Mansion was basically a bridge that got me to this madness we call Disney Parks.

Ever since I snuck Stitch out of the Emporium, I also vowed never to grab any Disney merch outside of Disney parks or Disney-operated outlets (I used to have one in my part of my hometown of Virginia until Chapek went Cruella with the Disney Store). There’s just no magic in getting Disney stuff outside of Disney…

Well its a good the last ones name wasn't Kyle or updating would be a little akward at best.
:rotfl2:When I was pregnant with number three, a lot of people asked if the name would start with a K. Uh..no. But, one of my first two is actually Kyle!
