I have read that most perennials can be divided. Is this true for Oriental Poppies (Big Red Flowers)? I planted mine about 5 years ago and they have grown quite large. I'd like to double the plants I have now and share with friends. Has anyone done this before? How do I do it and when should I do it?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Oriental Poppies are temperamental plants. They go into a dormancy after they flower and do not like to be disturbed. You need to wait until the spring to divide them.
