Oreo Truffles - question for anyone who has made these.

My store doesn't sell "melting chocolate" so I bought Ghiradelli milk choc chips and melted them in the microwave. They seem very thick for dipping. How can I thin my chocolate?

I thin my chocolate chips by adding 1/2 a cake of parafin to 2 cups of chips. That comes from the recipe for my peanut butter balls that has been in my family for years and years! Sounds gross, but the finished product doesn't taste at all waxy.

Experienced oreo truffle friends,

Can I use a blender instead of a food processor to crush my cookies? I only have the mini food processor and it will only fit about 4 cookies at a time.

I use a blender, as I don't own a food processor. I don't remove the cream from the cookies either. I just throw the whole things in there! I can only do about a 1/2 stack at a time. I start out on the lowest setting and the progress to the highest. I end up with nice, fine oreo crumbs.

Making batch #3 today, DD4 loves them and we need some more for Xmas Eve and Day!!

So my DH comes home last night from work and tells me they had their office Christmas Cookie Bake Off. Ten entries, seven judges, full on taste test! The woman that won made...wait for it...Oreo Truffles! I asked if she was on the DIS!

Oh my! I made these for Christmas and they went so fast! Had to make another batch last night so I could bring my neighbor some. Of course, I had to keep half for us!

Thank you to whoever originally posted the recipe. I think these will be made quite often around here!
