Has anyone tried freezing oreo truffles? Some web posts say the cream cheese does something funky when it is frozen, other posts say it is fine to freeze. Trying to plan for a large gathering and hoping to do some of the work ahead to make things more manageable.
Any other freezable suggestions are welcome!

You can absolutely freeze them. Have done it many times. I've never noticed any funky taste/texture with the cream cheese either.

I've even been known to sneak a couple here & there straight out of the freezer. :lmao:

I've made Oreo Balls many times and frozen them. They are fine. I've frozen them for a few months and they taste fine when thawed. I just can't tell the family when I freeze them or they sneak the oreo truffles out of the freezer and eat them all, a few at a time. :)

Ido any of you have a recipe to share. I would love to make these for a party but have never done so before. Is it an easy recipe? I thought it might be something fun my DD and her friends would enjoy doing.

I take a pack of Oreos and crush them in a food processor. Then add about half a block of cream cheese. Roll into balls and refrigerate for a while then dip in melted candy melts

I use 8 oz cream cheese block and a package of Oreos. I've used all different flavors of Oreo. Generally I use either fat free or low fat cream cheese. Crush the Oreos then mix with softened cream cheese. Form into small balls. Melt a package of chocolate wafers (from either a craft store or Walmart has them) in the microwave. Dip the Oreo ball in the melted chocolate. I find it easier to dip half the ball, let it dry a few minutes then dip the other half of each ball. My son-in-law prefers white chocolate so when I make them from him I use white almond bark to dip the Oreo ball instead of chocolate wafers.

Just made my first batch last night and got them into the freezer. I used a pkg of double stuff oreo but I think the dough would come out better with regular stuff. I put that oreos and 8 ounce block of cream cheese in the blender, shaped into balls on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Chilled for an hour. Then dipped into a white chocolate (used 12 ounce white choc chips with a tablespoon of shortening). Had a little leftover white choc so dipped some almonds and raisins.
Super easy recipe!
Thanks to those for the feedback on freezing!

Freezing is my secret to getting them covered with chocolate easiest! When I make the balls I'll pop them in the freezer for an hour and then coat with chocolate. I've never noticed a difference with freezing them.

Great tips! Thanks, the idea of using different flavored Oreos is a good one. These would make good Easter treats.

We make and freeze them a lot. After dipping in the chocolate, we like to sprinkle them with all sorts of stuff; tiny chocolate chips, chopped nuts, chopped peppermint and sprinkles of that season. My Easter ones will be all white chocolate with easter sprinkles.

I don't use a whole brick of cream cheese because I find the packages of oreos have gotten smaller and using all the cream cheese makes them soft and harder to work with. Just a small adjustment I have made.
