Oregon Trail??

you know what i JUST remembered? i won this amazon.com certificate at work a few weeks ago.....and i haven't used it. and i went to check to see if they sold the game.....and they have it on there for $5 so i think i'm going to just snag it off of there. it's the third edition tho. i don't want the BRAND new one, the 5th edition....because i kinda liked the original version. no one seems to have that one tho....i'm betting it won't even work on the computer i own now. when i used to play it at school it was on a floppy disk.....my computer now doesn't even have that drive! lol.
That's cool! I should get myself another copy for old time's sake; our disc was destroyed probably... 8 years ago.

I know what you mean about the floppy drive! When I was younger we had a Commodore 64; we played ABC Caterpillar, Mickey's Hide and Seek, EA Sports Hockey, and a math game from the 5-1/4" floppy disks. We learned that if in one game of the math program, the '6' was dropping into the chute at the bottom of the screen, we could type in a bunch of random things and the the game would disappear and the screen would turn white with blue letters. Then if we typed even more things, it would change to pink screen with green letters, blue screen with yellow letters, etc. We played the math game because we wanted to find the funny screens, LOL.

ETA: if we played the Hockey game for long enough, the drive would overheat and the hockey players turned out looking like cars. :rotfl:

wow i remember ABC Caterpillar, too!! man, those were the days!!

I have a copy of this one : http://www.amazon.com/Oregon-Trail-II-PC-Mac/dp/B0008GMXVA

It's fun, basically like the original except more interactive. You can choose exactly what supplies you want instead of just a basic package. You also have a lot more control in trying to cure your people when they are sick. Lots of choices in what trails you want to take as well. I may have to dig it up and play again :rotfl:

see, i knew someone would know what i was talking about. when i was at work i'd try to explain it to the girls at work and they had NO idea what i was talking about lol.

I love Oregon Trail!! I played that game all the time when I was younger (still do, as a matter of fact).:rolleyes1

My son had this game and I played while he was in school. I was thinking about Oregon trail the other day.

I looooooooooooooved Oregon Trail!

Best game ever. I remember sitting in the computer lab and naming all the people in the wagon after my friends. Then we'd all crack up when someone died. :rotfl2: LOL- morbid children we were!

I would love to find a version of this to play.

Oh, I used to be totally addicted to that game! I played it in computer class at school all the time. I own version 3 somewhere.

My mom has the original game; she used to use it with some of the grade-school age kids she tutored. My brother and I liked to play it in a slightly different way, shooting--for sport--everything that moved and then racing against time, disease, and starvation to see whose party got the farthest before everyone died. Those were good times.

they definatly don't make computer games like they used to......

I use to play the game at school. We would race to the front and try to get the floppy disc. They only had one or two of them. DH bought it for me a few years ago. I might find it and play it again. I love this game.

I have that game and still play it occasionally.

I remember the first time I played it, I named all my people our own family names and then I felt so guilty when my son and daughter died!! I started making up names after that!!

It's a fun game to play though.

lol when my friends and i played it in school, we would have us as the wife and our "Crushes" as the husband and i'd get so upset when the husband died i would stop playing.

I have the original version on CD-rom.

I think I found it at Staples for about $5.

I also have the 3rd or 4th edition i don't remember which one.

But the original is still my favorite!!
