Ordering Treat for Resort Arrival.....

This coming trip is a 40th birthday present for me. Extra special as when I was in my mid 20's, I was diagnosed with a terminal illness & was told I would not see 30. The fact that it is 10 years later than that & I am doing relatively well after a few scares is very special to us.

We want to order a cake or some other goodies to be in our room at arrival at AKL. I don't expect Disney to do this for free - lots of folks have lots of special reasons for their trips. But our family is very interested in ordering (paying) for a special goodie array to greet us when we check in to AKL for the Birthday portion of our trip.

Does anyone know who I contact for such arrangements? Is it the resort itself or Disney Florists or what?

TIA

First off, congratulations on your continued good health and many more years to come! I'm not sure about who you'd contact, but if no one comes along posting with some authority I would call the AKL staff first and if nothing else, maybe they can direct you to the right people. Again congratulations and have a wonderful trip!

First of all congrats on proving the medical profession wrong, sometimes it is a great feeling. I am in the medical profession so it is okay for me to say that. I love it sometimes when we are wrong.

If you are willing to pay, I would try the Disney Florist(which I have used twice) or Gifts of a lifetime(I have never used these but I have heard they are pricy).

Good luck trying to decide.

I'm not sure about the contact information - but I, too, pass along my best wishes. Hey, we'll be at AKL the same time! :goodvibes

I would check with the Disney Florist (www.disneyflorist.com), and also call the resort. Maybe the Jiko or Boma kitchens could prepare something special. If you're staying concierge, I would also employ their help - I'm sure they could coordinate something with no problems.

Happy birthday!

congratulaltions!!! My husband is an oncologist/hematologist and they love to be proved wrong....

We just stayed at AKL in February and I ordered some special treats for my daughter's birthday. I asked the guest services desk and they said to just call room service, which I did and they were very helpful -- it probably would have been more helpful if I had been able to see the full selection, but i was ordering in a rush and just had the lady read them to me over the phone and picked one. But if you call the main number at AKL or even WDW dining they should be able to give you a number to call. AKL does some different treats -- by daughters consisted of a hollow dark chocolate elephant with "zebra" (white & dark chocolate) chocolate sticks sticking out of it, some cookies and brownies, and a white chocolate AKL Logo card -- I think it was about $50. But they had some that were more expensive with whole animal assortments and such. Definitely worth calling for and try and see if they will fax or mail you the list of what they do.

Good luck!

Leota,
What an inspirational story! You are blessed. I hope it is a magical trip for you! So many people dread turning 40. For you, it is truly something to celebrate! Can I suggest our very own Feralpeg for a wonderful gift basket? She is doing one for me with a Pirates of the Caribean theme, but she has many themes to choose from. You can pm her and she will provide a link to some pictures of her baskets!
Have a great trip!

Congrats on proving everyone wrong! We're arriving to WL tomorrow!!!! and I contacted room service for treat for Ds( who's potty trained). They suggested 6" ganache cake etc. That floats my boat.! I'm sure AKL room service has some fabulous treats. They can't have it on arrival b/c they don't yet know what room we'll be in, but requested an afternoon delivery b/c we'll be checked in by then. Good Luck and Enjoy!

Thanks everyone!
I really am Blessed beyond words. Everyday is filled with Gratitude.

I called AKL Guest Services directly & they transferred me to In-Room Dining. I spoke to a wonderful woman there & ordered a Zebra Cake, hats & streamers. I am giving the phone number & her name to DH & DS and hinting that they may want to *surprise* me with another one of the options. They all sounded so incredible! Especially something called Indaba (sp?).
She said they can have everything in our room for our arrival.

When we stayed at the CR we ordered a cake for my son's birthday to be given to him when we ate at Chef Mickey's. I think Disney dining gave me a number to call to order the cake. I hope this helps.

Leota... what a wonderful blessing every single day on this planet proves to be! Thank you, for reminding me of my own fortune, and helping me to give thanks for each and every moment. :goodvibes

After the treats in your room...I would suggest another WONDERFUL TREAT!! An "IN-ROOM" Manicure/pedicure, performed lovingly and professionally by another wonderful associate (and favorite of the GF loyals)...Whom can be reached by emailing her @ fingersntoes1@cs.com or by calling her directly at 352.255.2915. She will give you the same treatment that she did when she worked at the Grand Floridian (she was actually the lead nail tech at the GF Spa before leaving about two years ago to start her own mobile manicure/pedicure service), including the heavenly foot soak as she has a portable foot tub with vibrations and bubbles, exactly what is used at the spa. :cloud9:

"TC'S" an absolute sweetie, and does an incredible job for a VERY AFFORDABLE price ($35 for adult combo, and $25 for the "my first" combo mani/pedi for young girls)! Drop her a line or give her a ring, and she'll be able to give you the current price list and set up a date/time for an appt. She even drives OFF property (over to the Portofino, etc.) to some hotels for your convenience. It's a GREAT WAY to indulge. :cloud9: The Mani/Pedi combo is the BEST deal. Enjoy~!!

Leota,
Would you mind passing on the phone # to in-room dining. I'd like to order that zebra cake for our ds's birthday.
Thanks,
:flower:

Best wishes on your continued good health. I am so happy for you.
Your surprise sounds wonderful but now you have me wondering what else they offer. Can you remember any other things? Thanks so much.
