Just wanted to share my great experience with ordering stuff from Disney Merchandise. - I'm not British, but I've seen a lot of threads about disneystore.com and their outrageous shipping rates to Europe - so I thought this would be an okay forum to put it. Feel free to move it!
I'm graduating in three weeks and I have wanted the gradutation hat for a looong time. Unfortunatly they didn't sell them at WDW when I was there for Christmas. Have been looking online at disneystore.com, but couldn't justify the cost of the shipping! I was also going to buy some measuring cups and a goofy cap. I checked the shipping rates for ordering by phone, but they seemed to be just as expensive......
I had called before and knew that my Graduation cap would cost $25 to ship to Denmark - so the hat was cheaper than the shipping!!!! But thought about it and called to by it! You only graduate from Gymnasium once in a lifetime
I though I would check the shipping prices if I bought all the stuff I wanted. The shipping price at disneystore.com was $61 and according to this site: http://allears.net/tp/mailorder.htm , my shipping when ordering by phone would be $50! I thought I would just check with the CM I spoke to.
It turned out that the three things I wanted ended up costing me $29 in shipping - which was MUCH lower than I had expected, so I bought it! (The subTotal og the merchandise was $53)
I was then told that I had to pay duty fees to my own country (Denmark) and that the shipping time would be between 10 and 20 business days. This was last Tuesday (May 28) and this morning (June 3rd) the package was delivered to my door!
Yay!!.... 3 full business days and all my stuff was in Denmark. And I didn't even have to pay any duties 
The money was taken from my account on May 31.....
$29 is also a lot of money to get your Disney stuff shipped, but I totally think it's worth it! And no doubt about it, I will order again!

Unforunatly it is not all merchandise that you find online that you can call and order - but it is worth the try imo!
Hope that some of you can get some great stuff and get away with a little cheaper shipping than online!!!
