Ordering off-menu for texture sensitive...

Thanks all - we have some "old faithfuls" from our last trip. Our kiddos love burgers, pizza, and chicken nuggets, so we will stick to places with those. Hoping we can talk them into something on the menu at Flame Tree - that place has my name all over it!

Maybe they can go with the baked chicken drumstick or the hot dog if they eat those? :)

I can't find them right now, but I have been looking through food photos and I have seen a number of people mention bringing in food from Quick Service restaurants into Table service restaurants without and problem. This might vary from place to place but it's my understanding that most Disney places are very understanding of people' needs!!! Please correct me if anyone has run into a problem but I have seen it mentioned as being okay at least 3-4 times this week alone. :-) Enjoy your vacation!

I personally would never do it, but remember if you do to leave an extra tip and clean up the mess made by your fast food meal. Its not fair to the server to have to clean up a mess that you didn't order from her and leave the extra tip for the table space you are taking up by having someone who isn't paying to take-up the seat. My oldest has Aspergers and was a picky eater and we just always found something he would eat at the restaurant or go to a place that did have what he would eat. I never felt comfortable letting my DS ask for special treatment.

My daughter has autism, and used to be an exceptionally picky eater. I would not hesitate to bring in food from a QS for her if we wanted TS - if it doesn't violate any policies. In that instance, everyone wins. When she was younger, I can remember toting Happy Meals into local restaurants, simply because that is all she would eat. Each trip, we would expose her to what ever we would eat. After years of consistent exposure, she is a way more adventurous eater than I am - sea food, steak, pork, chicken, different veg, no texture or food aversions whatsoever. She will try anything! We can happily take her to any restaurant on Disney property. I think sometime we have to push our kid's boundaries, while still having a back-up plan in place. If we don't, how will we ever know what they are capable of?

1) Yes, you can bring in food to the TS.
2) However, she will have to eat it cold.
3) They cannot reheat food not made in-house.
4) This would be a Health Code Violation, as they could not verify the source and whether it had been altered.

At the resort QS places they will make grilled cheese sandwiches, Chef Laz at Pop Century makes the absolute best gluten free Grilled cheese ever! But if you order a grilled cheese at Cosmic Rays it will be a slice of cheese melted into a hamburger bun. The restaurants don't stock bread. We bring DS food in a cooler everywhere and get him to eat french fries and 2 nuggets a day if we are lucky.
