Ordering Magic Bands w/o Needing Them

I have tons of magic bands already, and am trying to decide if I should bother ordering any for our September trip. I can get 4 more, 3 for the split stay and one AP band. I’m tempted to get a couple premium bands, but DH thinks it’s a waste of money.
Since I have every color, and they are all in good shape I’m leaning towards no. But then I think, they are free...I pay enough to Disney so I am entitled to them.
Part of me just loves getting the package in the mail! But it is really unnecessary, yes?

Not sure how old your Magic Bands are, but to be fully functioning - magic band batteries are good for "about" two years.

I say order them, they are free (actually you did pay for them) and getting the box in the mail, makes the trip seem real and close!!!

I don't buy premium bands for me, but just bought two (one for daughter and one for granddaughter) at the reduced price of $10, a cheap souvenir they can wear!!!

I always get the new ones. This past trip I ordered skins and put them on my new band and several old ones. I wore Orange Bird to Epcot, Haunted Mansion to MK, Alians to HS, and a colorful "Hakuna Matata" to AK!

Is anyone else having trouble ordering magic bands? My reservation has a link to choose them but when I click it I just get a 404 error, and no option under manage Magic Bands either.

Only true somewhat for the long range functions, like videos. They will always work for close range things like park entry, fast passes, room charging. My old ones have worked longer than 2 years for the long range things also.

I have been gradually replacing my older thicker ones with newer colors, but IMO no need for the OP to get 4 new ones for one trip.

No judgment or wrong answers here. Lots of things at WDW could be considered unnecessary and a waste of money, but it all depends on what makes you happy.

Personally, I have about 10 bands including every standard color. I try to get one every other year now. I was actually annoyed with myself when I forgot to decline a MagicBand on the second half of a split stay, and the resort had a grey one waiting for me.

But then I'll go buy another $25-30 for a funny Disney t-shirt that I don't need or a beer or dessert that would cost half the price at home. Or "waste" valuable park time enjoying resort activities. If you get some joy from the package in the mail, why not? Or if you want to buy a premium band as a souvenir, and you enjoy it, it's no less unnecessary than Mickey Ears or pin trading!
