We are on the deluxe dining plan and have a child... we are looking at menus and noticing many of the places were eating (frontera cocina, teppan edo for example) don't have a child appetizer menu... so does this mean that she can order a regular appetizer off the regular menu? Also, can she order an adult entrée instead of the childs menu? anyone have any experience with this with a child on the DxDDP?

No division of child & adult credits on the DxDDP. She can order off the adult menu if she chooses.

This depends on where you choose to eat. Not every restaurant will allow a child to order off of the adult menu. They do not need to because the brochure specifies that children must order off of the children's menu.

Yes, and reports seem to be that non-Disney owned eateries (such as many at Epcot, as well as DS) are more of sticklers for that rule.

We are always on the Deluxe and a child is always only allowed to order from the childs menu. I dont know about Teppan Edo..havent eaten there with a child, but we have been to almost every other TS restaurant and they were all the same.

Thanks everyone...I am mostly concerned with the appetizer part of the question...what if there is no children appetizer menu, just entrée and dessert? Can we just get another appetizer?

There will be some type of appetizer that the. Child can order. If there isn't anything on the child's menu, you will either be offered something verbally or be allowed to order from the adult menu.

Not true in our experience. We just got back from our trip and we used the deluxe plan. My 8 year old was allowed to order off the adult menu at every restaurant we ate at.

At some places - the waiter even encouraged her to do so. She even ordered adult appetizers- she had lobster bisque at Narcoossee's. She also ordered a sushi appetizer at Kona Cafe - the volcano roll which another adult in our family ate.

We also are at Teppan Edo. Both kids got the endamas for an appetizer.

You got very lucky or something has changed drastically. That has never been the case for us, not the rules of the dining plan.............

Can children (ages 3-9) on the Dining Plan order from the adult menu at Table Service meals?

No. Children must order from the child’s menu. The good news is that all food is for all people at the buffet-style restaurants. Although buffets have a child-friendly section with items like mac & cheese, chicken nuggets, and pizza, children are not required to limit their food choices to these items. If you have a hungry or adventurous 8-year-old, then the buffets may be a good choice for you.

Can children (ages 3-9) on the Dining Plan order from the adult menu at Quick Service meals?

No. Children must order from the child’s menu where available.

Are there places where there is no kids’ menu so I don’t have to worry about who orders what?

Yes. These are primarily quick service venues, including: Toluca Turkey Legs, Casey’s Corner, Sommerfest, Yorkshire County Fish Shop, Golden Oak Outpost, and others.

My older child (age 10 or above) doesn’t like anything on the adult menu. Can he order from the children’s menu?

This fairly common occurrence is treated on a case by case basis. Technically, adults (anyone age 10 or over) are supposed to order from the adult menu and kids (ages 3-9) are supposed to order from the kids’ menu. In practice, if an older child (or actual adult) doesn’t like any of the food on the adult menu, the server will be happy to bring a larger-size portion of any of the food on the children’s menu. When this happens, an adult credit will be deducted from your account even though the guest is eating “kid” food.

Credits are treated differently when you are on the deluxe dining plan and in many restaurants children are allowed to order from the adult section of the menu. The restaurant can determine if this will be allowed. The restaurants that typically do nto allow it are teh non disney owned restaurants.

Same here.

Just returned from our trip with Deluxe Dining. DD8 ordered from adult menu at all TS meals. Some of the TS restaurants were:

Artist Point
Cali Grill
Le Cellier
Las Ventanas (at Coronado)
Yak &Yeti
Hollywood Brown Derby
Be Our Guest
Cinderella's Royal Table
San Angel Inn

This only applies to Deluxe Dining. When using the regular dining plan children must order from childrens menu at TS.

We used the deluxe dining plan - that's why it worked that way. All the credits are pooled together. The regular dining plan would not be used that way because the child and adult table credits are separate.

They even let me use my credits on other members of the party who were not on my dining plan. They were very flexible about how I used the plan. It worked out great since I paid for one child and one adult but I was able to use all of my credits on adults or adult meals for my 8 year old.
