We're leaving on January 16th for my nephew's 4th birthday trip :yay: . We want to order a birthday cake for him. We called the birthday cake line and were told that we could get a 6'' or a 12'' cake that can be personalized. Or we can opt for the Mickey head, which cannot be personalized. We want something different than just a regular cake, but everytime I call the CM says those are the only cakes they have. When I look at the cake thread on here, some people have ordered some interesting cakes. Where's the best place for us to order a cake if we don't want just a plain birthday cake? We're staying at the POLY, have reservations for dinner at O'hana, Chef Mickey's, and 1900 Park Fare, so it can be delivered to any of those. We also wouldn't mind having a cake delivered to our room. Any thoughts or suggestions.

Hello again! We are at the Poly just after you...arriving Jan. 21st, and will celebrate my son's 5th bday when we are there. I just ordered a 10" chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and fresh strawberry filling and chocolate buttercream frosting from room service to be delivered to our room on his big day (strange family tradition of eating cake for breakfast on birthdays will have it arriving at 7 am!). I called the cake hotline and spoke with someone in "private dining" at the Poly who was very helpful. I did spend a lot of time lurking around the cake thread getting an idea of what I wanted before I called as well. If you have no luck with Poly I have heard that the fanciest cakes come from the GF, so try for something at 1900 Park Faire there and you should be able to get something amazing (for an amazing price of course!). If you have any other questions or I can help in any way just shoot me a PM! Have an amazing trip and a great celebration!:)

I would suggest ordering a cake from the GF bakery, they can do pretty much whatever you want, and bring it to your dinner at 1900 PF. Their phone number is 407-824-2982. You can also call 'Ohana at 407-824-2165. The pic in my sig is a cake from the GF bakery at 1900 PF for my dd's 6th birthday.

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I'm calling today!!!! I'll be sure to post a picture when I get back :goodvibes

Hi Jmee
just wondering how much your 10" cost. We are celebrating DS8's and DD6's B-Days while we are there in june. I was just gonna order them them each a 6" cake for 2 diff character dinners ~ My thinking is that the servers and hopefully a character or two will come over and sing to each of them. Really that is the only reason to order a cake for them at the restauant because we probably be pretty stuffed after the buffet (maybe they will sing happy bday without the cake....)
On the other hand it would be nice to have a larger cake to snack on in the room. The cake you described sounds really yummy.

I've ordered cakes from the Grand Floridian (for dinner at Grand Floridian Cafe while 1900 Park Fare was being rehabbed) and from Poly, and had *tons* of options. For DD's birthday, we got a 10" white cake with strawberries & custard filling and white buttercream frosting. I didn't request any special decorations other than that they be purple, and it came with purple flowers and silver stars on top (pic is in post 5 here - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1560092). For DS's birthday on our upcoming trip, we ordered a cake from the Poly for Kona Cafe. White cake, strawberries & custard filling, chocolate buttercream frosting, again in a 10" (that is the smallest they will customize, and my kids love that strawberry filling). This time, I requested no flowers, primary color decorations, and Mickey sprinkles. The price was the same for each cake - $40 plus tax & tip.

Hi Angie,
Thanks, I think the cake sounds yummy too, and hope DS will just love it (he is a chocoholic!). I was quoted $40 plus tax and tip for that cake. She did offer a "topper" character for another $30, but I thought that a bit much for a 5 year old! I know some restaurants will bring a cupcake or something else "extra" and sing or make a big deal of a child's birthday if you let them know on the ADR (or even on arrival). So if you want to get the cake in your room they may still get a 'celebration' elsewhere (no guarantees though!). Do be sure to get a pin that announces their "day" to all though - CMs will make a big deal everywhere, and sometimes even other guests. It is a magical place to visit on your birthday, and I hope you and your family have a fantastic trip!

I just ordered a cake on Friday for DH birthday on Jan 30th , we are having dinner at O'Hanas. I ordered a 10 inch chocolate cake with dark chocolate mousse filling and white buttercream icing. I was told the cake would be $40 but, then I wanted a special design on it with Mickey etc. and I was told it would be an additional $30. I ordered it anyway, I think my DH will love it!
The number I called was the cake "hotline" number listed in the Birnbaum book, it is 1-407-827-2253. The woman was super nice but, I can't remember her name.

I think I need to order my nephew's birthday cake tomorrow. We're arriving on the 1/16!!! And I need to order a basket and balloons from the Disney Florist. OMG!!! Less than 2 weeks to go and so much to do! :scared1:

Anyone know what kind of cake toppers are offered?
