Orbitz users - hold my hand a bit

If you are flying from JFK, look at https://www.jetblue.com/plan-a-trip/ . JetBlue has nonstops from JFK to MCO, and they will give you the first checked bag free. They also have free DirecTV and other perks, as well as having competitive fares. If you look at https://www.jetblue.com/BestFareFin...parture=2015-04-13T21:55:00&fare=LOWEST/PRICE, you can check fares by date. JetBlue does not fly from my home airport, so I'm sorry I can't give you more info, but this is a good starting point for you.

When are you planning on flying? If you have a little time, the best fares normally are available when booking on Tuesdays/Wednesdays, with the weekends usually not the best time to book. You can probably sign up for email alerts of sales.

Thank you for your help. Going to check it out. We can likely do a Tuesday/Wednesday ; so that is helpful.

Sorry...I probably could have worded my original reply better. I meant that they most likely will have lower fares, if you purchase on a Tuesday or Wednesday, not necessarily having to fly on those days.

Sign up for their email alerts of sales and promotions.

Also, by law, you can cancel a reservation within 24 hours of original booking (if about at least one week in advance of departure). So, if you see a lower fare, shortly after booking, you may be able to cancel and rebook.

I see now. Thanks for all the help. Also ; how do you know which flights are refundable? Thanks a bunch.

When your search results are displayed, there is a "lowest fare" option, as well as refundable fare option. The refundable fares seem to be at least 3x the cost of lowest fares. Here is info for changing lowest fares booked, which are more cost-effective:

If you can fly from another close-by airport, i.e. Islip, you could fly Southwest, which allows 2 free checked bags, per person, and charges no fee to change or cancel flights; you just get a full credit to be used on another Southwest flight, within one year from date of original booking. There are nonstop flights between Islip and Orlando.

Disclaimer...Southwest is the airline I fly. :)

Thanks a lot. I'm going to look into the options. :-)

Is it possible to have Orbitz delete the last day of a reservation, without disturbing the other days of the booking? It looks like my resort is almost sold out for the desired dates, with no rooms available, other than at rack rate; so, I do not want to have to completely cancel. The same availability shows on Disney's booking engine.

I have wondered if they could do this myself. I have opted to rebook and then cancel rather than mess with phoning them. But if you can't do that (rebook first, then cancel the old ressie) I would call them and ask.

Yes, I will have to call and find out. I'll try to report back; hopefully, they can modify, without canceling or disturbing the balance of the stay.

I'll be curious what you find out as well. I had to cancel and re-book a few months back but the room rate was still available so I wasn't concerned.

Curious to know what other Orbitz bookers have gotten in the way of confirmation/documentation after linking their res through MDE. I got our magic bands, and booked Magical Express online seperately. I have printed the "voucher" for our park hopper tickets which I understand I have to activate at a ticket window when I get there.

When I've booked through Disney itself I've gotten a packet of documentation. Is it different since I booked via Orbitz? Am I missing something?
