I have a RO reservation for Jan direct from disney, but i see the same thing on orbitz (with a code) for 20% less (>$400!). Not interested in DDP, or packages (I've done the math and they will end out costing up more than just paying for food OOP). So it seems like a no-brainer to book with orbitz. I know i have to pay up-front, but it appears to be fully cancelable. So, please help, why shouldn't i book with orbitz, or maybe i'm just overthinking this whole thing.

No reason why you shouldn't. I think it is a slight process to get it added to MDE but we often use orbitz or expedia to book room only.

As long as you already have your tickets, aren't interested in a dining plan, and are renting a car or driving, there doesn't seem to be a reason not to!

Do it! I just did and it was easy. And we saved $600. Room only. You just have to link the hotel reservation code they give you (not the Orbitz own confirmation #) into MDE. It's already showing up. Then I went to www.disneymagicalexpress.com and entered everything for magical express and already received a confirmation email from them. Good Luck!

Another one: just do it!

I was 100% satisfied with my Disney Orbitz experience.

thanks, all. I booked. I've been hoping for a PIN from disney, but this is even better!

So I am strongly leaning towards jumping on the Orbitz discount - I have a question about confirmation. What type of confirmation do you receive when you book through Orbitz? Is it an emailed confirmation? And how quickly does it show up in Disney reservation at the Disney hotel? Is that only after I load it in DME? I'm a newbie to Orbitz - so pardon my questions... Thank you all for your help!!

You get a confirmation number immediately when you book on Orbitz. Then go to My Disney Experience, Link a Reservation, and add your confirmation number. Then you can add DME through the previous poster's link.

I just cancelled and rebooked room only on Orbitz, I originally had 15% off and just got 20%. And it's for AoA Little Mermaid room which Disney never discounts anymore.

It's an emailed confirmation. I booked it and printed immediately. Then I went to my email and the confirmation was there. They will give you a Orbitz confirmation # (longer code that is unique for Orbitz) and then a hotel confirmation # (it was all letters I think 6 of them for me). That was the code I linked to MDE. It really was so easy. Don't forget to use promo code "outtahere" to get another 20% off.

Thank you!! I have an existing reservation with Disney that I want to cancel first before I book Orbitz - and the reservation system is down for "magical enhancements" - so I need to wait another couple of hours. My vacation just got more affordable. I just love getting a good deal!

I had both… just an FYI. I booked Orbitz, linked it to MDE so both the Disney reservation and the Orbitz were showing. I called Disney the next day to cancel the one with them. It all worked out fine.

I also just booked a Little Mermaid room with Orbitz discount. Have used Orbitz before, never a problem, matter of fact we booked out last stay at POFQ thru Orbitz for two standard rooms and were upgraded to Garden View.

One more question - has anyone had any problems cancelling an Orbitz reservation and receiving 100% of the fee paid back? It appears that I can cancel for "free" up to 5 days before check in. Is that true? And is the money refunded within 24 hours?

I don't think it is really 24 hours. I think my bank took about a week to process the refund. It was easy on the Orbitz end.

Considering orbitz or our jan 8-13 trip. POR, 2 rooms, for 4 adults, one 14 yr old. I need tickets for 5 days. Wasn't sold on the dining plan. We always seem to just break even (or less).

Can i use MDE with the tickets I buy from orbitz? I dont want to miss out on the fast passes for attractions.

If its that great a savings I might have to look into my dream stay of AKL savannah view!

any help appreciated!

This is an excellent question.

Some people on a non-DIS board reported that it *is* possible to link Orbitz tickets in advance. You would receive a voucher from Orbitz, redeemable at the Disney Will Call window. But supposedly you can call Disney and get your Will Call ticket number and use that to link your tickets in MDE.

I would love to hear it from someone here though!

If not, buying separately online from Disney (and linking), is super-easy.

I bought tickets through Orbitz in February when ebates was offering 20%. I was able to link them a couple days after I purchased by calling Orbitz and asking for "My Magic Code". It took a few days and a bit of convincing with the rep at Orbitz to explain what I needed, but I was able to get it done.
