Has anyone stayed at this resort? I researched it thoroughly and saw that it gets 4.5 out of 5 with 97% recommending it on one major travel site and similar reviews on other sites. However, our (cut short) stay there last week was absolutely horrible including roaches, completely run-down rooms and appliances, and unfriendly employees. I was just wondering how our experience could have been so awful with everyone else loving it. I know everyone has different experiences but this just leads me to wonder how low the bar is for a lot of people. I see no way in the world that 97% of people could have recommended it.
 
I've stayed there 4 times. Never had a problem. No bugs, no dirt, appliances just fine. And I'll probably stay again in the future.
 
I put up some family members there a few years ago. They had a fine stay, and they enjoyed it a lot, with no problems to report.
 
sounds like you got one of the older villas.

were your on the first or second floors.
 

We have also exchanged into Orbit, through RCI, as a timeshare. Really had no concerns. I am sorry to hear your vacation was less than acceptable! Hope you pursue the issue with their management company.

I just don't get how our experience could have been so much worse than everyone else's. Maybe it was just the Neptune building that was worn down and beat up, but roaches aren't just in one building in the place, that's for sure.

Seriously, we'll put up with almost anything but the second we see roaches we are outta there. We just will not tolerate that.
 
Sorry your experience was so bad. I have never stayed in the Neptune building.

boy on a 3rd floor too.

most you will have roaches problems on the first floor - even at Disney - it is Florida - and roaches especially BIG ones are there.

on the 3rd floor - well that is a different story.

what did management say when you complained?

The night we saw the large roach and had it pinned inside the curtains we called the front desk to have someone help us catch it (it was VERY fast). No one came for over 10 minutes so we called again. about 5 minutes later a maintenance guy came and killed it with a towel.

After that I immediately called the front desk again to ask for a different room and it was literally 11:03pm and they closed for the night at 11pm.

First thing in the morning I called to ask about leaving early and getting a refund for the days not used. They NEVER apologized and actually seemed inconvenienced that I was bothering them about this.

They just kept saying I had to go through the travel agency (the online one that begins with an E) to get that sorted out. I called the travel agecy and they called the front desk, who in turn told the agency to call their headquarters but that they don't open until 8:30am.

The agency called the HQ but no one answered. I have the agency call again at 8:45am and no one answered so they left a message. No one ever called back.

So we had to leave and go to another hotel without any promise of being reimbursed, all the while losing out on valuable vacation time at WDW. Our travel agency finally reimbursed the money for nights not used after I complained to them for over 30 minutes, but Orbit One did not reimburse me. Possibly they reimbursed the travel agency, but I have no way of knowing.

The front desk also claimed to the agency that I never reported any roaches so when I checked out I asked them if there is an official way to report it. They said no. I told them I called twice the night before about the problem and they looked in a binder at the desk and found nothing about it.

All the while I was never offered an apology, not once! And again they seemed more bothered that I was making them work than anything else.

To make things worse I wrote a negative review on the travel agency's website but they denied it without explaining why. I made changes to it and re-submitted it 4 more times but each time it was denied. I e-mailed them asking why it was denied and their e-mail back had absolutely nothing to do with my question.

I filed a complaint with the Washington state BBB just about the acceptance of the review, but they still haven't accepted it or explained why they won't. That makes me very suspicious since I've seen the place first hand and can't understand how it's rated 4.5 out of 5.

Not a pleasant experience from beginning to end...
