1. Can anyone tell me what the latitudes package is?
2. How warm would I expect the pools to be heated to in December?
3. Is anyone able to share any pics of the pools or one bedroom units with me?

Thank you

I'm going to bump this up for you-- I have not stayed here, but hopefully someone can help you. :)

Not sure about the latitudes package but I think it is a way that OLCC rents out units. All pools but the Olympic-sized pool is heated. It isn't the pools that you need to worry about but what the outside temperature may be as the range can be a low at night in the 20s to a high during the day near 80 - usually lows in the upper 40/low 50s and high in the mid 60s. I have pictures of a three bedroom (same as the two bedroom but with a third bedroom) but no pictures of a one-bedroom unit.

Thanks so much for the info. We were in Florida Dec 17/05-Jan 8/06 and yes, hte temps really do vary. We had day time highs from 57 to 85. But as long as the pools are warm (84 at least) then we will be able to swim.

Does anyone know the temp that the pools are heated to in the winter?

I really hope that River country will be heated as well. A contacted orange lake and was told that"it will "probably" be heated. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks again for all the info.

I can answer this question.

Last March we stayed with RCI owners on a last minute week at Orange Lake. One rainy day we were called down to listen to the "presentation". We all politely said no to buying after having a nice lunch and listening to the spiel. OK they said we'll bring in the closer to give you your $50.00. The closer brought the money and the Latitudes package to offer us. Our friends were not interested, but we bought it. Here's how it works:

Price $1100.00 for 1 week at OLCC,
-valid for 2 years (holidays blacked out)
-US tickets
-Arabian Nights tickets
-towels
-mini golf pass
-Water Mania pass (although it is now closed)
-2 golf passes

It worked for us, because we knew we wanted to bring my parents back with us this year. We paid $100 deposit and have been making monthly payments since then, so not such a big chunk at once. We do have to go to the presentation when we get there to get our package and so they can try to convince us again.

Not sure if it was the smartest thing to do, but we are looking forward to it. Only 46 days to go!!!

Thank you for the information on the latitudes package.
Have a wonderful vacation at Orange Lake.

I can't see us NOT going on the timeshare presentation. I have totally fallen in love with this resort by looking at the web site.

We just got back from Orange Lake (stayed Jan.8-15). We stayed in the East Village - the room was IDENTICAL to the room we had last year in the North Village. I am going to try and post my pictures of the room and pools tonight.
We swam every day in the East pool and the Splash Lagoon pool, they were both heated.

I just posted a new thread on this board titled "orange lake pictures" if you want to check it out (hopefully it works ok, I have never posted pics before!!). There are pictures of the east village pool, splash lagoon pool, and our room (however, we were in a 2 bedroom). I am pretty sure though, that the building you can see overlooking the waterslide part of splash lagoon are the 1 bedrooms - maybe someone can confirm that?? I would imagine it would be the same decor as our room since that is in the North section.

Jen;

I stayed in a North Village unit that you described. It was right next to the Splash Logoon and some rooms may overlook it directly.

Wow, that would be a treat (to stay in the North section overlooking splash lagoon), BUT since we aren't Orange lake owners and will only go to Orange Lake through an RCI friends extra vacation using a guest certificate, I wonder what my chances would be of getting into the north village vs. the west village?

Can someone confirm that the one bedroom units in North village are in the mid rise building that overlooks splash lagoon and that the rest of the north village (the one story villa type buildings) house larger size units?

Thank you

The two times we have been there were on a guest certificate, and we had no problem either time getting the section we requested (last year the North, this year the East) Definatly call the week before you go and request the North section.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. If we end up going to Orange Lake (which I hope we do) we will definately give them a call prior.

May I ask you what you said to them when you requested the village you preferred?
Thanks

Suzy;

The 1-bedrooms are in the buildings next to the Splash Lagoon. The other units (2-story) are anchored by 3-bedroom units at each end on the ground floor with 2 2-bedroom units between them and 2 2-bedroom units on the second floor. In general, the West Village has the one story-type villas, the North Village has the 2 story-type villas, and the East Village has the highrise-type villas (the West Village also has some 2-story type villas and the highrise villas at the Tennis Villas and Magnolia Court).

The following mid-rise units have a pool view at Splash Lagoon: 3439, 3437, 3435, 3433, 3431, 3429, 3427, 3425, 3423, 3421, 3419, 3417, 3415, 3413, and 3411. The following units in mid-rise have golf views: 3438, 3436, 3434, 3432, 3430, 3428, 3426, 3424, 3422, 3420, 3418, 3416, 3414, 3412, & 3410.

I also have map of the area and unit numbers. If you like, I can forward the map.

Gary,
Thank you so much for the info.
I have just sent you a pm.
I sent you some pictures as well of my 3-bedroom unit. I probably should label them but most are self-explanatory. The second bedroom has the 2 beds and the television on top of the chest-of-drawers. The third bedroom has the bed with the small couch.

I am also staying at Orange lake for the first time, and am so appreciative of all this info. I was wondering if anyone knows where the 3 Bedrooms are located, and where is the best spot. I have a 5 yr old, so we will want to be near a pool. thanks

most of the 3 bedroom units would be found in the "end" units of the high rises, not sure if they have 3 bedrooms in the North village

when we mentioned how we have read about "exchangers" making requests to get into different areas, our tour guide said that is going to change.....

eg if you own in the west village that is where you will be placed, if you own in the north, the NoRTH and if you own in the east, EAST village....only those who own in River Island are suppost to be able to get into that section

basically, he said that orange lake controls where people are placed ( of course we all have to take what a salesman tells us with a grain of ..... )

thus, do not know how they would know what section they would place you if you got an extra vacation through a friend ( maybe that is a question we can forward to OLCC or RCI )

he also said they are working on some other programs since they are not happy with how RCI operates particularly with exchanges and RCI points raiding ( essentially the 45 day inventory )

they have just hired top executives from both the HGVC and Fairfield according to them and are working on "exclusive" internal trading among some other "clubs"....in 2061 there will be a vote taken to see what will happen....whether to stay as an association under orange lake or i guess from what i have read disperse the holdings to the Owners.....not that this date will have much impact on us....we would be 115 ....smilawgs

anyhow, will be interesting to see if what they said is true once River Island opens sometime this spring or if it will be the same old same old as far as "requests" by exchangers or renters....have heard if you call they will tell you the party line, but if you request at check in .....things seem to happen with regards to requests

by the way we just got back from OLCC this afternoon

3-bedroom units are available in the East and North Villages (they might be in the Tennis Villas, I'm not sure). The 3-bedroom units are the end units. In the East Village highrise units, they are at both ends of each floor. In the North Village 6-plex, they are the end units at ground level.
