Hi all,
We've been given the opportunity to rent a 2-bedroom villa at Orange Lake, but we know nothing about it. Can anyone provide me with some info., specifically where the best location would be for a family with a three-year-old? The layout there reminds me a little of OKW with the golf course and all. I would prefer that we be closer to a pool or a general store even though we will have a car.

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated!

 Hi. I always hate to comment on somethings as peoples expectations and likes and dislikes varies so much as some of the threads indicate. However, Orange Lake is in my own opinion one of the best. Lots of Activities etc. It is large with a large pool activity complex in the West Village (oldest) and the North Village. I think the one in the brand New East Village may be open now as well but I will not have seen it until I'm down the first week of Feb at OLCC. I enjoy walking so often walk from West Village to the East Village area (about 30 mins walk) North is in between. There is a good variety type store in the main complex (check in) at the West Village. There is also a Pulblix at #192 East entrance to OLCC. The West Village has a kids wading pool with mushroom fountain and has kids activities. As well as the Stage pool, olympic lap pool, and another regular rectangle pool for adults plus two (1 huge) hot tubs and a poolside bar and snack bar. This is also next to the Beach and main building that has the store and indoor rec. centre plus resturants.
The West Village has a kids splash pool, interactive fountain, pool with waterslide and I think 0 depth walk in in one. They have a kids activities here as well.
The East Village is still a mystery to me so can't comment till I see it in Feb.
There is a resort Shuttle bus that you can take from one section to another that runs regular times and you can flag it down if you are walking. There is a huge parking lot at the west village and smaller at North.
You will love this resort. Have fun Hope this helps. Go to www.orangelake.com

Thanks for your response, iluvflorida. Sounds to me like West Village is the area that has most of what I am looking for. I guess my next concern is that since it is an "older" part of the resort, will the rooms be run down, etc. I have read reviews today on different sites that have spoken about worn furniture, etc. With the new section, I guess the chances of having an old villa is pretty much nill, but I assume that this newest area is very far from the front entrance. Overall, I have been reading great reviews of the resort itself, with most people saying they would return. That's encouraging.

I just got back from Orange Lake West Village. We were on the 3rd floor of a high rise (7 stories?). We were very close to the main check-in building, the swimming pool, mini golf course and lake. The condo was beautiful and modern. No worn furniture there. It looked exactly like the picture of a two bedroom they show on their website.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa in the East entrance. We loved it. The pool was the one with the kid mushroom pool and the bar and food stand. We spent one day there and the kids had fun. We thought the resort was great. There is a lot of activities which we didn't do so I can't comment on them. It was very easy to get around the complex and I would stay there again.

:earsboy:   Glad I was some help. We go to Kissimmee(Orlando) every year for at least a month in Feb. confirmed for 5 weeks in timeshare this year. We always go to OLCC at least one week. (There Jan. 31 to Feb 6)this year. We have never had but a wonderful time, in pleasant well kept units. This will be our 7th year (10th week) at OLCC.
Should you have even the smallest problem they will help I know. An example is that I had a minor car problem last year and I asked one of the fabulous rec. staff that I had been bugging all week if she knew if the resort recommended any repair shops in area. She went and then looked me up later and told me where to take my car. The shop looked after me and even gave a discount off the original quote when I told them that OLCC had recommended them and that I would be sure to tell the resort that I was very satisfied (which I did).
By the way she got me back for all the bugging I did of her when she was hosting the Country and Western BBQ and show. She dragged me up and I had to play a wash board fiddle and sing with the group in one song. She laughed and laughed with my wife at me because they both knew I deserved it. It was great fun. I would not worry at all

Sounds like I have nothing to worry about and we'll have a great time! Thank you all for your responses!

I own a timeshare at Orange Lake and its WONDERFUL! I can't say enough good things about Orange Lake. If you have specific questions, feel free to PM me...I've stayed there at least 2 dozen times.

I stayed at Orange Lake in June of 2002 it was a 2 BR unit that was up past the main building, but I honestly don't remember if it was N, S, E or W. We really liked it though. The condo was not overly luxurious by any means, it was a two story building and we were on the second floor and you went up some outdoor steps to get to the entrance (i.e. it was an outdoor entrance). We never used much of the resort amenities, but my sister and broth in law and thier kids did use the pool and loved it with thier kids. The condo was nice, and well equiped. I would not say the room itself was overly luxurious, but it was fine, it had what we needed and was clean, I would stay there again.
