Hello Everyone. I am making plans on staying at Orange Lake from 8/13 to 8/20 this year. I am looking for some suggestions, advice and tips from people who have stayed here before. I am very interested in comments from people who have stayed in West Village. I do not care for the 1 story units with open patios. I am afraid of bugs and friendly animal wildlife that come to visit. Are there any 2 story units in the West Village? So for previous guests, can you give me any suggestions or advice for West village, North Village or East Village. I haven't reserved a unit yet. I plan to rent from an owner, but I want to have some ideas of what to look and ask for. Thanks in advance!!

Hi there, we leave for OL on Friday. We love the single dwellings in West but there is 2 areas in West that have high rises most popular is the tennis villas. You would have to specify u want tennis villas. North & East have all high rises. ( only 6 to 8 high) that being said west is cheaper, then east next then north. If u have an questions please pm me.

We LOVE the one story units. It feels much more private and like a home. We have stayed multiple times and never had any critters. I wouldn't let that deter you from those!

But I will be there in August when the temps and humidity are quite high. I don't think the bugs will stay away during that time of the year. But YOU give me HOPE!!!

Also, I have yet to find a reasonable rental for Orange Lake. The closer it gets to my dates the more options I will have. Of course my theory is based on past rental experiences. So I MAY get lucky enough to get into one of the high rise units. We will see what happens. But based on what I have seen on YouTube the West Village single story units are REALLY nice so I don't think I can go wrong either way.

We've stayed in all types of units and never had issues with the units themselves. We've had issues with garbage not being picked up, but that was outside...and I think people put it out at the wrong time. We've mostly gone in December and March, so I'm not sure about August, but if it's highly buggy, a screened in porch might be a perk!

Yes, July and August usually are VERY BUGGY!!! So a screened porch is what I prefer. If I don't have a screened one, then I will miss out on sitting out at night enjoying an umbrella drink or a glass of wine. That is usually a part of my vacation so I am a little hesitant about trying the single story units in the West Village. However, I think the interior of the units are very nice based on what I see online. I'm not sure if I am willing to sacrifice the perk of a screened in patio. I'm afraid I may not enjoy myself if I can't enjoy my patio at night because of the bugs.
