Hey DISers! We exchanged into Orange Lake's North Village and stayed 3/26/11 to 4/3/11. We had a total of 9 people so we ended up exchanging for two 2 bedroom units, one Sat-Sat and one Sun-Sun. We requested that the units be close together and they were directly across the street - perfect!

Check-in was painless, we were able to do everything for the second room at the same time so that our family checking in on Sunday would only have to stop by and pick up the key. They only spent about 2 minutes trying to sign us up for a tour. When we told them we're happy with our home resort they let us go, no pressure.

The rooms were clean and spacious, exactly as pictured on the RCI site. The only thing I could complain about is the quality of the toilet paper they give you to start with, but that's minor. We shopped at Super Target which is just across the street from the resort. My advice here is to go as early as possible on your check-in day because by the end of the day the shelves are pretty bare! :)

The North Village's pools were awesome and just a short walk from our rooms. River Island's lazy river was so much fun! We truly could have stayed just on Orange Lake's property for a week had it been in Mexico or Arizona or something :) But, since it's at Disney's doorstep we didn't allow a lot of time for all the great amenities and activities they offer.

We had pizza delivered from the resort's pizza place (sorry, can't remember the name) the first night and it was yummy and reasonably priced. We also ate at Breezes in the West Village one night and had good service and good food.

We had a rental car which I would say is a must. The cost for a shuttle to Disney is outrageous! Anyway, the drive to Disney is easy and short.

We loved our stay at Orange Lake and would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, spacious place to stay close to WDW! Just let me know if you have any questions...

Just wondering...we have always stayed on Disney property but we are considering Orange Lake for our next stay. We would rent a car and drive to the parks each day. Is there bad traffic getting in/out?
thanks for any info!

We were there on a couple days that were predicted to be 10 out of 10 and the only traffic we encountered was getting into the Braves vs Phillies spring training game, which we expected. But the drives to and from the resort and on Disney property were easy. We never waited for more than one or two cars at the parking fee booths and since we made rope drops most days we parked in the first 3 or 4 rows in each lot. I was expecting a lot more traffic but the road are all 3 or 4 lanes and there are lots of signs so it seemed very orderly :)

Hello everyone. We'll be staying at Orange Lake in May and the website states they have shuttles to the parks. Is there a charge for that? I thought the shuttles would be free. In the event we have to rent a car is there a fee to park at each one of the parks? Would it be a hassle to go to the resort for a nap at lunch and go back to the park later? Sorry about all the questions and thanks in advance.
