We leave for OL next Wednesday. Has anyone been there in the last few weeks??
They called this afternoon and told my DH that the main clubhouse is shutdown and being renovated and it won't be open until February!!
My concern is that we had gotten a call two weeks ago telling us that our unit was being also renovated...and that they were going to have to move us to another unit. No problem for us about that but.... they put us into one of the tennis highrisers.
Now I'm concerned that they'll be construction and trucks all around that area and it'll be dusty and noisy. Has anyone any information about it...has anyone seen what is going on in that area?
I'm so worried about it. I'm thinking of having DH call and have us moved to somewhere else. What do you think? Barb in Texas
Okay - an addition here...talked to DH and he doesn't think it's any big deal...seems like they're doing the inside of the building, not "rebuilding" the building. He doesn't think it'll have any bearing on we're staying. It'll just mean that the things that were stationed in the building will be moved to other areas. He says I'm worried about nothing.

You've certainly put it all into perspective for me!! You're so right...
I love OL...so many years now and so many memories!! It's my favorite place away from home. We always have such a good time, relax and have met so many wonderful people. In fact...there's a group in the fall (from England and misc. states) and another group in the Spring (England, Scotland and misc. states) and we get together every year.
I really don't know why I even worried! Got my AP - Hubby's got his golf clubs...we just got a 50% from TexasdeBrazil coupon - so what else do we need??? ;)
Thank you again - you sound like such fun....I'll bet you keep your family hopping!! Maybe we'll meet up with you all some day!
Where's your condo in December? What a great time to go....my dream is to go someday and be there for the Christmas party and see all the decorations!! :wizard:

Advise?

Should we request East Village or North Village? Two adults. Early Nov

Thanks!

We were at Orange Lake at the beginning of Sept - the construction was in full swing, but it really didn't affect our stay (didn't hear a lot of noise, etc). Check-in was kind of strange, but that was it. We have stayed in the East and North Village and I really like them both - you really can't go wrong with either one.

Have fun!

Thank you Stasieki!

Do you know which blgs in the East Village are the newest? Also any advise on check in times? Will we have a better chance at the newer rooms checking in early or later?

Thanks!

Barbara,

I was in the Tennis Villas September 28 to Oct 5. The construction had no effect on my vacation. I didn't find it noisy because of the construction. There was a vehicle, probably a golf cart, that went past the building around 5:30 in the morning (I wouldn't have heard it except that I was awake) on the walkway on the side of the building opposite the parking lot. After staying there, I can see the appeal if the clubhouse was open.

I still don't know what to think about the pool renovation. There is information on Orange Lake's webpage and OLCC appears to be keeping the same basic shape (Olympic size) but since it is a zero entry, I still wonder how deep it will be. In addition, there were several smaller pools in the area and I don't see them in the plans. I wonder if there will be less swimming areas but more cabanas and shopping. I will wait and see.

OLCC actually assigns the rooms you before you arrive so any requests should be made before the day of arrival. Your checkin time will have no effect on which section you get.

As far as which section to stay, that is a matter of what are you looking for. I have always found the East Village to be very quiet but in honestly, the North Village is also quiet but there is Splash Lagoon in the North Village that has various activities. The East Village is more centered around the golf course (all sections of OLCC revolve around the golf course and country club theme). I also like the original Golf Villas in the West Village as I can park my car in front of the door and I can walk outside to the patio. Many of them didn't have a whirlpool tub but the current renovation is putting jet tubs in the units.

We like to be by the Splash Lagoon (North Village, I am pretty sure) - it was a nice pool and not as crowded as the River Island by the East Village. We have an 18 month old and she liked the pool at Splash Lagoon - there is also a slide at that one that is for the smaller kids.
