Orange Juice in "Orange" cups

Funny story about those orange cups.....

I went with my parents and 3 sisters back in the late 70's. We stayed at the hotels right down the street from DTD. I believe it was a Howard Johnson's at that time. My parents booked 2 connecting rooms. Well we had accumulated quite a bit of those oranges over the week and near the end of our trip, my sister and I were out on the balcony and decided to start throwing those oranges over the balcony. I know.....that's terrible.....but at that age we thought it was hilarious. We were on the 12th floor and there was a guy that just pulled up and was loading his luggage in the car and yup...you guessed it.....we threw one down and it landed right in his trunk. I wish they would bring back those oranges.

We stayed at that same hotel in 1976! I think we were going to MK (all there was!) for like 2 days. After day 1 everyone got deathly ill so we drove to my great-great aunt's house in Hollywood Florida. After everyone was better we went back to MK.

That's a little off topic BUT I SOOOO remember those oranges and grape drink containers! I'm not sure if the memory is specific to Disney. I seem to remember them at Cedar Point and Sea World too. What a fun memory though!

I had a weird dream last night about orange juice and WDW.

When I was a kid ( mid '80's) I remember getting orange juice in a plastic spherical cup that looked just like an orange. It came with a straw that went in the top. I know we stayed at the Contemporary, so I don't know if it was a resort specific thing. Or, maybe I didn't even get this at WDW.

Does anyone else know what I am talking about?

I was thinking about these recently, too. It was a must have when we went down to FL, but I don't think we got them directly at Disney.

OMG!!! I totally remember the oranges ! I completely forgot about the grape ones until it was mentioned here. ..... wow, this brings back such good memories ! I remember the orange bird too... I think either my sister or I had a t-shirt w/ that bird!!

I remember these too. They sold them from ice carts in the parks. I remember a red one too, I think a straw berry.

We were just there last week and I spotted an Orange Bird pin. I was so excited because I had orange bird earrings when I was a kid in the '70's. Unfortunately nobody else with me knew who orange bird was.
I texted my sister back home and asked if she remembered the earrings and she texted back and said, I still have them!
I bought the pin and wore it all day before attaching it to the outside of my purse. My kids think I'm nuts!

Last year I was visiting my grandma and we were talking about all the visits when I was younger. One of my favorite memories was drinking Tang from the orange Mickey cups (it was the only time I had Tang). Low and behold at Christmas there was a special gift under the tree for me with two orange Mickey cups. My dear grandma still had them and wanted me to pass them on to my kids. I look at those cups in cupboard and smile everyday.
