Hi everyone,

Wondering if anyone can help?

Our trip is in August for my birthday and we've been together for nearly 6 years soooo....

.... we've decided to get married!

:lovestruc

Shhhh no one else knows!! (and yes, my mother is going to kill me but we can't afford to do the big white wedding thing here and would prefer something small anyway)

So!

We have completed a marriage licence form (and printed off the handbook thingy) but I'd emailed the courthouse about how we go about having them perform the ceremony (ladies: think Carrie and Big at the end of SATC 1!) but no one has got back to me.

Has anyone else here done what we plan to do??

:confused3

Yes we did! We got married on cocoa beach by rev Diane we planned it two weeks before we went!! The courthouse is really easy to find, you have to go and register at least 4 days before ( I think that's right) then its all systems go! We didn't get married at the court house so I can't help you with that part! But you might want to google it and ind the info that way or take a trip there the town is lovely! X Congratulations!! X

I've had mixed responses on the waiting time between registering and ceremony - some have said there's a wait and others have said it can all be done on the same day.

I've checked my emails and had nothing from the Clerk of Court despite emailing on 2 April so wee bit worried.

Just want to be organised - I'm a bit of a Monica! :rotfl:
And we're multi-tasking - 30th birthday/wedding/honeymoon all in one go!

:goodvibes

We got married on our first trip to WDW 2008 at the Court House.
Did not prebook anything.

Arrived at courthouse and completed forms, had passports etc
Then went back up to desk to get licence to get married. Before we paid this we asked about getting married there an then.
Paid an additional fee and waited 5 minutes to be taken into the registrars (not sure of what else t call it ;) )
We were finished in 10 minutes.

Nice thing is that UK couple do not require witnesses by law. Therefore the clerk at the courthouse allowed our three children to sign the marriage licence :goodvibes

We did this in 2008 and went to courthouse and waited around 15 mins i guess to get the license, we then took it back the day after our wedding it all finalised. Our officiant said he would send it and the courthouse would send it to us in the uk but we wanted to take it home

Hullo.

I got married at Kissimee courthouse in 2006 & attended a wedding there in 2008 (the process hadn't changed).

We went to the courthouse with the fee in cash and our passports. We completed the formm and handed the cash over for the licence, had our passports copied and obtained a licence there and then.

We choose to return a few days later to be married but that was our choice. We could have gotten married at he courthouse there and then, as long as your in their office hours it's first come first served. As you're not a Florida resident there is no waiting period (any that have being mentioned are for either Florida residents or of you getting just the licence and then getting married elsewhere in the county).

The wedding we attended in 2008 the couple purchased the licence and got married about 30mins later once the clerk became free.

The wedding itself costs additional to the licence.

HTH. XX

I got married at Kissimmee courthouse in 2009 and it really is as easy as pitching up first thing, buying a license, filling in some paperwork and waiting for a registrar to free up. I think it took longer to get through the security line :rotfl: and we were back in the Magic Kingdom by midday. Nothing was prebooked we just had a vague idea of what day we wanted to do it.
Congratulations! You're going to have a holday and birthday to remember

Another Orlando marriage here :) I got married in 2009 and if I remember rightly, our wedding planner (Lorainne Ellis / gettingmarriedinflorida.com) arranged the registrar etc but then after we married, they said they would send the certificate to the courthouse but like some of the others on here, we wanted to do it ourselves so we could take it home!

Kissimmee courthouse was a breeze, we parked up, went through security which took literally a couple of minutes, we queued upstairs for about 15 minutes before a lovely lady called Daisy sorted our certificate out! Her big curly writing of her name 'Daisy' looks cute on our certificate haha!

Sounds like you can do it completely stress free and just turn up if you want to get married at the courthouse!

Congratulations :bride:
