Selma seems to be a bit less expensive than Rocky Mount, NC.

Anyone have good or bad hotel (and restaurant) experiences there?

Thanks again,

Lisa

On our way to Myrtle Beach each year, we stay at the Holiday Inn Express on Exit 97 (I think) of I-95. They serve a continental breakfast and have a nice little pool in the back. It's on the east side of the highway tucked in behind some pines. The only bad experience we had was last year. There was a really bad thunderstorm that moved through the area with alot of lightening. At about 3 AM the fire alarm started going off and kept going on and off for about 45 minutes. The poor night manager and several male guests were running through the hotel looking for a fire, but it was purely a malfunction in the phone lines (as explained by the fire company). It was a very sleepless night. The management was not going to do anything until people started complaining and I think they took $20 off our stay. Even though all this happened, I would definitely stay there again, it's convenient and clean with a nice lobby area where they serve the continental breakfast. Outlet shopping and restaurants are within 2 miles. We have eaten at a Texas Roadhouse and Applebee's near there. They also have a small "mom and pop" type place next door. Hope this helps!

thanks for the info... after living with these twins for a year, I'd be surprised if a fire alarm could keep me up anyway! LOL

We have had very good experiences with many Hampton Inns up & down I95 (except Florence, SC). Last month we stayed at a Hampton Inn in Selma, NC. It wasn't the least expensive hotel in the area, but we are familiar & comfortable with Hampton Inns - clean, safe, nice breakfast starting at 6 a.m., etc. We were able to get a first floor room near the elevator & we did not hear a thing from it.
