Opus Dei, Freemasons, Knights Templar . . . do you belong to a secret society?

Bro. Galahad, the knocking at your door is from me and the other brethren who are coming to silence you for revealing too much.

Shriners is a Freemason organization. Knights of Columbus is the Catholic "version" of masonry, since the Catholic church doesn't allow its member to join a masonic lodge.

My husband is a Catholic (non-practicing though) Mason... as are many of his friends (who are practicing Catholics). My husband is also a Shriner.

Perhaps a better phrase would be that the Catholic church doesn't "approve" of its members being Masons rather than "allow". :)

In all seriousness, Opus Dei is evil, no matter what the naive John Allen says. I am in the Knights of Columbus

Add me to the list of being in Rainbow. I too served a state office, as a "Grand Representative." Rainbow was a very important part of my life, and I still try to do stuff with the assembly today.

I received a masonic ring after my grandfather died. It'd be OK to wear it if I wanted, right?

And, for some reason, I am hearing Ray Stevens singing the Shriners song... LOL

FWIW, that's what I said. Most of the Europeans that were Masons in the 18th century were Catholic. It was the Church that didn't like it - not the fraternity that didn't allow Catholics.
hi
my apologies, didn't mean to repeat what you said, obviously only fast read the article!

I know my sister in law's father was from Ireland (Catholic) and is probably rolling in his grave (per sister in law) knowing that his son is now a FreeMason. I guess (according to sil) in Ireland the Catholics were K of C and the Protestants were FreeMasons..... that might be some of the strife that was there.
