I would prefer not to have to pack formal clothes and skip the formal dinner. I figured we could order room service and hang out by the pool or catch a movie. Do people usualy have on their formal clothes for shows and movies. I just wonder if we will feel out of place on formal night.

No, you won't. A lot of people, after dinner and their pictures go right back to their staterooms and change out of their formal wear into more casual wear for the shows and nighttime activities. Also, some people with late seating don't get dressed until AFTER the shows, right before dinner, so are at the shows in their casual attire. Don't worry about it. We're skiping formal night this cruise also (been there done that) and eating upstairs at Topsiders.

Is Topsiders open for Dinner? Is that a Buffet? If so, what kind of food?

On the 7 night cruises only they offer a buffet/sitdown option on everynight except the first and last night. The salads/appetizers are buffet but the main courses aren't.

Also, not everyone wears formal clothes on formal night. Some people stick to the sort of clothes they've been wearing. A lot of people just wear "Sunday" clothes.. So if you don't want to pack a sparkly rhinestone studded dress suitable for the Oscars, but can pack a pair of dresser slacks or a Sunday dress, you'd be fine and you'd still get to participate.

(Not that you have to...up to you.)

We didn't feel like going to formal night either and we went to topsiders. It was packed LOL...many people feel the same way! It was a nice sit down meal. I was a bit upset at first because I didn't have any cash on me to leave the server a tip. I knew you don't have to tip but other people were leaving cash and she was very good and I wanted to give her someting....I ran up to the room and came back down and gave her some cash!

For both formal and semi formal I wore a pair of black jersey slacks, a Glittery top (had to pack it in a plastic bag to keep from having gold glitter all over everything :rotfl: ) and some dressy sandals. I felt I was appropriately dressed and the slacks and top didn't take up much room.

Doing formal night would be something to remember. I would be good with it, but my husband would hate dressing up. Also, my 2 year old can be a little hard to handle. He was throwing rolls, and anything in his reach at our table mates at Tritons on our last cruise. He was just so wound up from all the excitement. I thought about putting him in Flouders, but his Father really wants us to eat dinner as a family every night. He was good at the other dinners. But that night at Tritons was awful.

So does anyone know what is generaly on the menu at Topsiders?
