*Options: Tampa to Orlando - Calling Florida Experts!

I have a conference in Tampa, and am planning to jump over to Disney World for a few days. Unbelievably, airfare from Seattle to Tampa is considerably cheaper than from Tampa to Orlando!! Can anyone suggest a better way to get to Disney World from Tampa? It looks like it is about an hour and a half drive... Are there busses I can check, or maybe I could rent a car one way. (Does anyone know which car companies have drop-off locations near Disney World?)

Why not just fly round trip in and out of Tampa? It's about a 90 minute drive from the TPA airport to WDW, easy to rent a car and drive. I've done it several times, no problems. In fact three weeks ago my flight to Orlando was cancelled and I got onto a flight to Tampa instead. Took me about 20 minutes longer to get home from TPA than it would have from MCO--and cost less--no tolls TPA to home! .

We have driven from the Tampa airport a number of times....It is not a bad drive (except if you get stuck in the road construction). In the 8 times I've made this drive I have only gotten delayed once....I'd rent a car and drive over...

Ditto what ducklite and ZW said. I've done the drive from Tampa to WDW a few times and it's a snap. I4 all the way. I've not ever experienced any significant delays either.

We always split out trip between USF/IOA and Tampa. The drive is no big deal. Well, our first time we drove to USF, did the whole park, and drove back. It wasn't great for my husband who was doing the driving.

How about doing what I just did. I booked a flight into MCO and out of Tampa to go back home. I did the same thing with the rental car. It didn't cost any extra.

Try travelocity. Go to their home page and in the upper lefthand corner you can search for flights. At the bottom of the search box is a link to "multi-destinations. Click on that and follow through.

If you rent a car, try Budget and use BCD code w852800 for a great rate. I just came to this board to post that with this code I got a full size car for 12 days for $200.55. I've been checking every other rental agency and different codes and nothing has come close.

We are going next week flying into Orlando for 3 days then driving to Tampa for a 4 night cruise and flying home from Tampa. We booked our rental car for 3 days at Alamo. Pick it up at the airport and drop it off in Tampa at the airport then just cab it over to the port for the cruise. It is no more expensive dropping it off at another spot and cheaper to get the car for 3 days at Disney even if we only use it to get down to Tampa because the shutttle to go from airport to Disney would have been about $100. Renting the car is only $17 a day.
