My family and I really want to camp when we head to WDW, however we can't take the time to drive from Oregon with all of our camping gear. here in Oregon we we have REI stores where we can rent just bout any and all camping gear as needed. Is there anything comparable in Orlando? Any ideas on camping supply stores in the are that rent tents etc..? Thanks in advance:)

The Fort rents tents. They are $30 per night in addition to your site rental.

Contact the Group reservations at Fort Wilderness for more information.

You could buy a tent when you get to Fl and give it /leave it there. You could order one online and have it shipped there and give it/leave it there. A lot cheaper.

We have been contemplating sending our tent there ups. Has anyone ever done this? Where did you ship it too?

We shipped our big cabin tent UPS Ground to Fort Wilderness in 2008. We tracked it's progress daily online and it took about 7 days from Arizona. The kind folks at the Outpost stored it for us as a will-call. The cost was about $30.00 each way.

The WDW tents are pretty nice and quite roomy too for a single room configuration (and CMs set them up and take them down for you too :goodvibes).

warning: tent camping can be pretty hot -- I'm from Arizona and I was surprised how hot it was in mid-October even. Some folks use AC units -- I can see why.

You could contact John at Florida Baby Gear.com I know he would be willing to rent tent and other camping equipment if there is someone with the need.

We also considered renting a motorhome from CruiseAmerica.com, & there are other companies. However, FW is not included in the Free DDP, so maybe next time.

I just talked with a Cruise America rep a couple of days ago. I thought the price was reasonable; depends on time of year & size of motorhome & extras desired (such as dishes, linens, etc). May not be any more than Disney's tent rental & a whole lot more comfortable, especially the AC. Add in .32 cents per mile (but few miles each way locally would not be much), & taxes. Insurance is included in the price. All have AC & full kitchen/bath. Nice to have microwave & fridge! All hookup hoses/wires are included. No TV; we are driving so planned to bring our own; there is cable hookup in the motorhome interior & exterior for plugging into FW cable outlet; could buy a cheap TV at Walmart if you want one.
