Options for petal toss?

I am trying to finalize my budget and look for areas to cut a little money. Right now I have the paper cones with petals for the staged exit which are $9 per person. I know you can get the petals in organza bags or just in a basket which would be cheaper. What is the best option for the actual tossing of the petals? The whole reason I am doing this is to get a good picture!

My BEO lists a real exit with petals and not staged so I was thinking that the people not on the aisle wouldn't really end up throwing the petals anyway. :confused3

What option did you use and how did it end up working?

Thank! :)

Large baskets with organza ribbon would cut your cost & be lovely.

How about bubbles? Bubbles make beautiful photos.....

Congratulations....

I haven't had my wedding yet but we are doing loose petals in a basket. They cost much less and you can get away with purchasing fewer petals too. ;) Everyone can just grab a handful.

I like the look petal cones best but aside from the picture of the cones themselves, I don't think you'll really notice them in pictures. The beauty of the tossing pictures is you and your DH in a shower of petals. :goodvibes Plus it upset me to spend so much on something guest will literally crumple up and throw away only seconds later. :confused3 I even thought of making my own, but again it would be a lot of time spent on something people would throw away so I settled for the basket. I bet that day I won't even notice. :)

I am leaning towards the basket. It seems that it would be pain for people to get the petals out of the fabric bag. Does Disney provide the basket or do you need to bring your own?

I'm using an outside Florist, but I believe Disney can provide the basket. Although if you were really picky and found one you liked better I'm sure they'd let you use that instead.

We had a small wedding so I am not sure how many guests you are having. This was a very important pic for me so we did the organza bags and it worked out perfectly. It was a staged exit so everyone could get lined up but our laughing and expressions were not staged at all because you are just so happy and you feel silly having petals floating down on you. It was great!! Our petal toss is one of our fav pics. We barely did any floral, but this was the one upgrade I would not cut.

I'm ordering freeze dried rose petals from http://www.flyboynaturals.com/

I think they run around 18 cups for $18 bucks.

If you are going for a staged picture, a basket still might be better so people can just grab a handful. I've been to a wedding where you forget you even have the bags and then the bride & groom are already down the aisle before you get the bag open (or you could be like my FBIL and toss the actual bag... :headache: )

We did a staged exit and had the large basket filled with rose petals, enough for 50 people. The cost was $120. It was great and worked out perfectly. There was a gentleman that was holding the basket and as the guests exited they each grabbed handfuls. They were lined up outside the wedding pavilion. Then we were told when to walk through.

dhay- I love your pictures! Your petal toss picture is one of the main reasons I really want to do this!

Do we need to appoint someone of "keeper of the basket" or does Disney organize getting everyone ready?

Read my above post on how they did our staged exit.

We did petals in bags for $3.50 apiece. They were sitting on the seats when the guests arrived. After we did The Big Smooch, we waited a few seconds for everyone to figure out what they were s'posed to be doing before we started walking back down the aisle. It looked great!

We did petals in a basket and it was perfect! Also, we asked to only have petals for 75 people out of 110 and it was still enough :) HTH!

I will definitely have to ask for a smaller amount of petals then. Thanks! Your picture with the petals came out great!

Thanks! Also, not having organza bags or petal cones means your guests won't be holding them for your staging exit shots :thumbsup2

We actually picked up bouquets of roses the day before and my aunt made organza bags. It came out a lot cheaper than if we had ordered them through Disney.

Also, we did a staged exit and it worked perfectly. My sister did not, and only half the people through them so they had to do it again to get any photos.

Good luck!
