We have 3 buffets booked, so I know we'll find something for DD at those places. What I'm wondering about is the 4 sit-down meals we've planned. Just in case there's nothing we could share with her from our plates, and we'd want to order just a small side-dish for her, could we do that? For example, I see that most of the kids menus include a mac-n-cheese entree that comes with a few other things. Mac-n-cheese would work but we really wouldn't need all the other things for her. A little side-dish type bowl of noodles would be sufficient.....so I'm wondering if this can be done? Or would we have to order/pay for a whole kids meal? (I don't see anything really listed as side-dishes on the menus)

Our DS is 3 - and is still very picky. He's been to WDW 12 times already! We always do sit-downs, and the waitstaff has always been very accomodating with small portions, and even have modified items from their menu. We usually will bring snacks/crackers/cookies so that we have a back up in case he's not up for eating the options.

Have a great trip!

We took our son last Sept when he was 13 months old
Here is where we ate & what he had

Coral Reef - he shared the chicken breast & french fries(my DH requested french fries) with Daddy - he liked watching the fish

Hollywood & Vine - Buffet

Crystal Palace - buffet

Trex Cafe - I had pasta and my husband had quesadilla and fries and we shared with him

Donald's Safari Breakfast - Buffet

Chef Mickey's - Buffet

Tutto Italia - he shared with us

Ohana - they brought him out some mac & cheese
But I think most places will bring you out something small for the baby if you ask.

My son was also still eating a few jars of baby food here & there so we subbed those in where there wasnt too much else. Looking forward to our trip in a couple weeks now that he's 2 he eats much better and naps less so everything wont be such a hassle.

There is usually applesauce on the salad bars...you could probably ask for some. Also, since the chefs are used to accommodating allergies, it would probably be easy to ask for some boiled noodles if you do not see them!

My DD10 was ill at Boma last year, so I asked the chefs behind the line if they had any chicken broth...they were only too happy to try to come up with something to make her feel better...even brought it to our table when it was ready. (Thanks chef Marta!:cheer2:)

we have a now 4YO that has been to Dsiney several times we have NEVER had a problem ordering just a side of something and sharing what we have.
when he was in you range we would bring food he liked just in case... like the gerber meals--I know not the greatest but most likely better than most food at Disney
For the most part ours eats anything or he is not leaving the dinner table until we are done :lmao: but he still does like certain things... so better to have that then have a crank

Thank you all so much. You've cleared up some of my pre-trip anxiety!

Fries at the Coral Reef? I will have to ask for some since there's not a lot on the menu that I really care for (I'm a really plain non-fancy picky eater and this is one of DH's favorites, plus we'd like for her to see the fishies).

Like I said, I don't think we'll have issues at the buffets since there's kids selections (and that's what I usually have...hehehe!). Our plans include Chef Mickey's and Cape May for dinner and Norway for breakfast. Our non-buffet plans are Whispering Canyon Cafe (where I get the skillet but she doesn't like mashed potatoes or a whole lot of meat), Coral Reef, Tony's Town Square (which is a new one for us), and Sci-Fi (where I know she can share my meal for sure).

You can buy an uncrustable PBJ and apple sauce from the cs at your resort and pack it with some snacks. When my son was 1 1/2 and 3 years old, we bought uncrustable and put them in our resort frig for that exact reason. We also stored up apple sauce or fruit sides from our resorts food court. Because I too wasn't sure what he was going to eat.

Buffets were much easier.

Have fun!

They are absolutely accomodating. Our daughter was just one when we went and they would bring her anything we needed. Applesauce, a scrambled egg....yes even for dinner, mac and cheese, plain pasta, steamed broccoli etc. You might be surprised at what a 1 yr old will eat. She ate a lot off our plate no problem, she loved salmon and it was soft enough for her to eat. Most places didn't even charge us extra either.

due to possible allergies it's recommended not to give under 2 yr olds peanut butter. I have a nephew that has the peanut allergy and we are overprotective of him because of it.
