Will be at MGM that day and staying at BC. Was going to do a 2 tableservice restaurant, does anyone have experience with these two?

Brown Derby is a must do for my whole family. We love the Cobb Salad appetizer. And just in case if you don't like something on the salad they will glady leave it off. For entrees we like the filet. It's always cooked perfectly. The only downside to BD is the desserts. They just do not appeal to us at all so we usually just forgo dessert and get mickey bars later.

I thought the Brown Derby was very good.

I haven't eaten at Yachtsman yet.....but I would think it might be better.

The Brown Derby has delicious food and good service. We've been 3 times and once to a 'Dine with an Imagineer' luncheon there. It is also a very pretty restaurant, comfortable and not loud. You do get a sense of old Hollywood when you are there.

I don't know when you are going, but make your ADRs soon as you can. It is the nicest restatuant in DHS.

We love the Brown Derby and it is a must-do for us on each trip. The Cobb Salad is wonderful, we've loved all the entrees we've tried: Pan Fried Black Grouper, Grilled Salmon, and the best of all, the Roasted Hatfield Pork Rib Chop  DD14 got that, I only got a small bite but it was to-die-for good :cloud9: For dessert, I really like the flourless chocolate cake. It's very rich & dense, but good. DH loves the Grapefruit Cake, especially since it's different and you can't get it everywhere. The Pumpkin Cheesecake is very very good. DD got that, so again I only got a small bite (she really doesn't share well  ) it was yummy :goodvibes

We will be back in June and have ADR's at BD and we're trying Yachtsman for the first time :yay:

I think you'll have a wonderful dining experience with either choice :goodvibes

Brown Derby :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
We love it. Eat there every trip (12 times) I love the filet and the salmon. My DH loves the porkchop. We LOVE the Cobb salad and the grapefruit cake

Yachtsman Steakhouse (insert thumbs down here)
We tried this 2 yrs ago and were really disappointed. They undercooked our steaks and then burnt them after we sent them back. Service wasn't par...just felt the experience wasn't great. We have not been back.

We are steak foodies....eat at Mortons, Ruth's Chris, Flemings, etc on a regular basis and Yachtsman did not live up to any of these.
was very middle of the road for us. I would not go out of my way to eat there but if staying at the hotel....maybe.

We ate at the Yachtsman in Aug and loved it. The food was great. We had the Filet mignon and had it was cooked perfect. Appetizers and deserts were great too. We only had to wait about 3 or 4 minutes after checking in for our reservation and found everyone there to be nice. We had our two young sons with us and the waiter went out of his way to talk to them. We are going back in two weeks. This is now our favorite place for steak in WDW. Definatley give it a try.

okay... I think I am just going to upgrade to the deluxe dining and do both. I already have the basic dining (from the bounceback last year) and we are going to do some breakfasts in addition to dinner so it will just be easier for me. Thanks! :)

We didn't care for the Brown Derby. The menu just doesn't appeal to us. We like the Yachtmans. Aside from the steak being great we think the sides and desserts are good - the drink menu is good too. The service and atmosphere of both is a little upscale. We had just okay service at Brown Derby and have had snooty service and great service at the Yachtsman our two trips. They are comparable restaurants so look at the menus and decide which appeals to you the most

Maybe I'm delusional, but does anyone else remember a good stroganoff entree at the Brown Derby maybe 8 years ago? I looked at the menu a few minutes ago and nothing is enticing me to go there for dinner like it did before...definetly will be doing Yachtsmans....maybe lunch for salad and an appie....

We loved Yachtsman when we tried it in August! DH is very picky about how his steak is done. He likes it medium, but often orders it medium well in restaurants because it usually comes undercooked. At Yachtsman he ordered it medium and it was done to perfection. Mine (med-rare) was done perfectly as well.

From beginning to end, everything we tried was yummy!

We have had 8 great meals over the last 24 months at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. The food has always been cooked perfect, the service was great (Mark the server is Awesome!) the Chefs and Managers still understand the meaning of Disney Guest Service!! They still hand cut their steaks daily and prepare all of their food daily.

The Yachtsman has recently been named the #1 Signature Dining Restaurant on Disney Property.

Have a great time which ever restaurant you choose.
