We are planning a trip the week of June 19-25. We will be taking our princess: DD4 and we are just not sure about the DD 9months. Will it be just too hot and miserable for her?? or would I be spending most of my time in the hotel to keep her happy??

In the Magic Kingdom there are plenty of shady spots and places to rest so if it gets too hot. And many of the attractions themselves have AC :) I wouldn't worry too much :)

I took my then 9 month old in September. He was fine...a little sweaty, but fine. Just slather sunscreen on her and have fun!

I brought my 9M old DS last June and it was hot, when I changed him I would wipe him down with cool water, we also bought one of those fan/misters. He drank lots of water (that was a first) and we enjoyed the pool every afternoon and evening. So over all everything wen't well.:yay:

Make sure you have lots of sunscreen(remember ears ad feet), a nice big hat , give lots of fluids (nursing a lot, or bottle ot water). They also have those extra shades that you can buy for the stroller or a clip on fan. Slip into the AC if she seems to be getting too hot.
If you bring a ziploc bag and put ice and a washcloth in it before you leave the room in the morning, you will have a nice cold rag whenever you need it.
Those fan misters are great too!!!

I would say it depends on your child. I have seven children and I would go w/a 9 mth old. I love that age!:goodvibes We were thinking of going this fall w/a 9/10 mth old. My husband wasn't too sure, but he doesn't have a good memory for that young. He just thinks a lot of work.(we decided next year because we are spending $$ on the house and the three youngest will be 1 1/2, 4 and 5 which I think will be perfect ages! One of my favorite ages at disney is 1 1/2! Their expressions are memorable!:wizard: We have gone w/ two others at that age and my husband does remember that age and the expressions!!!:) I have gone all sorts of places w/9/10 mth old babies. I have brought them to conferances and sat them on my lap for a whole weekend. They've been great! Course everyone else was surprised and commended me. But you wont be just sitting. Your child should be quite amused.:cutie: An older sibling to be amused w/will help also! I personall would have nap/rest time in the mid day. It will be at the hottest time too which will cut out on worring about burning and the hottest heat for cranky babies. If your 4 year old doesn't take naps one of you can enjoy the pool w/her! Thats what we did and it made all the differance!:goodvibes

I am big on naps and rest times. I am going out on a limb, but personally I think it makes the differance between a very happy child most of the day and a fussy , bratty child. Whenever our children start getting unruly or fighting it is almost always because they are tired.:headache:(lets face it, when we are tired our patience is thinner and our emotions are harder to keep under control) We then talk to the older ones that will understand about learning to control your actions even when you are tired. Sorry to get on a soap box, just my two cents.:rotfl:

I think you will be okay if you follow some guidelines:
Keep everyone hydrated. Offer both kids drinks even if they don't seem thirsty. DD4 may be too entranced to realize she needs a drink.
Go early and the morning and in the evenings to avoid the worst sun.
Make sure the baby has a wide brimmed hat.

Also, I read a tip somewhere that said that baby carriages can become very hot because the dark, practical colors attract the sun pretty much turning your babies carriage into a sauna. Bring a white towel and clothespins to attach it to deflect the sun and absorb body moisture.

Keep one of those misting fans with you to keep the baby cool.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

I don't think it will be a huge deal. Magic Kingdom has plenty of A/Ced areas, plenty of shade...just keep her hydrated and try and get her to wear a hat(my 9 month old hates hats!) yall should be fine!

Personally, I wouldn't leave her home. She'd really enjoy everything even though she is so young. We took our DD at 5mo and 1yo and it was a wonderful trip both times. I understand the heat (the first visit with her was in September), but we just planned for a lot of shade time and some time enjoying our accomodations and air conditioning.

BTW -- WELCOME TO THE DIS!

We went with DS 3.5 and DD8mo last August. It was wonderful! The three things that made it enjoyable for dd were a fan that clipped onto the front of her stroller, a stroller shade (there are mesh ones from Sunveil (www.sunveil.com) that block the uv rays but they're white and you can see through them. They actually lower the temp inside so dd was very comfortable) and a cape made of the same material. I bought a second stroller cover, cut it up and made a cape for her. She wore it all the time when in her baby bjorn. She stayed cool plus it lowered the need to wear too much sunblock which isnt good at that age. She slept when she wanted. We took a break most afternoons so she could nap in the a/c at the resort. Overall, wonderful trip! We're heading back with her and ds next week. She's 13mo now and we'll do the same thing.

You'll probably be fine as long as you're careful. You know your baby best. I took my almost 2 year old in June (short 2 day trip) and he was fine the first day. The second day he was sick, but I don't know if it was from the heat or a virus. I would take it slow and don't worry about spending long amounts of time there at once. Go for a few hours and then go back to the hotel for a while. Tehre are plenty of other good suggestions already given as well!
