Hiya!

Just booked Port Orleans Riverside in October for an all adult trip. I usually stay at the Coronado but it wasn't available for the dates I wanted...

SO....tell me everything you love about Port Orleans Riverside....tell me what you hate...

Ready...Set...GO!!!
:yay::yay::yay:

I love how peaceful POR is. I also love the food court. What I hate is when I get a room that is in the bayou section, and in one of the buildings far in. There are some pretty twisty paths!

CSR and POR are both awesome moderates!!! We often stay at one of these for part of our trips. POR has beautiful grounds with lovely foliage. Walking around is romantic and peaceful. Although the themed pool is not as good as the one at CSR, it is nice. We also really like the 'quiet' pools at POR.

The boat ride to DS is a fun way to go shopping, Yee Haa Bob is a lively source of evening entertainment, the carriage rides are fun, the walk to POFQ pleasant (and rewarded with freshly baked beignets!), the food court is great and we enjoyed Boatwright's for TS dinner one night on our last visit.

The CM's are fabulous at POR! We have always found them to be very helpful. The rooms are comfortable and the RR are elegant while the AB rooms are cute and cozy.

I think that you will love POR!!

We only stayed at POFQ but the theming is really nice and the boat to Disney Springs is bonus!

We really like Port Orleans Riverside. I would only stay in a preferred room in the bayou section as some rooms are quite far from the food court. The walk from the mansion rooms is much more direct. The boat ride to Disney Springs is relaxing and depending on the time of day not too crowded. We have not stayed at this resort since we purchased DVC in 2008.

CSR is my favorite also, but POR is a great resor, too. Like CSR, POR has beautiful theming and landscaping, and the food court is very yummy. I don't think POR's busing is as good as CSR, but the boat to DSp is a nice perk!

There's nothing better than getting up early and walking around on the beautiful, peaceful grounds at POR before a long hectic day in the parks. There are very few places in Disney World where you can get away from the crowds and noise, but POR is the perfect resort to do that. The food court is very good and boat service is a plus. I've stayed at Deluxe's, Values, and Moderates, and POR is one of my favorites!

I loved how gorgeous POR is... so peaceful to roam and enjoy. I also loved the boat ride to Disney Springs. What I didn't like, when we stayed there in October... is that the main dining room was most often crowded (although they had the best selection of any resort I have stayed at) and the hot tub was always at capacity. Otherwise, I loved it.

I really like the pool bar. It has several tables set up under the roof, so you can still enjoy your drinks on a rainy day. :)

We stay at POFQ but POR would be the backup if POFQ was not available. The boat to DS is great and by 5:00pm the 2 PO resorts have seperate boats. Epcot, DHS and MK are close by. You have 2 foodcourts to use if you want not to mention 2 pool bars and 2 lounges. Boatwright's is good reasonably priced WDW restaurant. I wish they would bring back breakfast
The walk from/to the main building of each resort is about 10 minutes. As far as bus service goes based on posts here and other sites it can be hit or miss at any WDW resort .

Love Riverside. Great food court. Beautiful grounds. Awesome bar inside as well as pool bar. (hmm...a theme lol). IMHO the best Mod on property.

POR is our fav moderate. We love staying in the mansion section along the river. We always request a room location close to Old Man Island foot bridge. Very central without paying preferred.

Things we love about POR:
1- Beautiful landscaping
2- walks along the river
3- good food options
4- boat to Disney Springs
5- evening entertainment- Bob Jackson puts on a great show
6- love watching & hearing the horse & Carridges go by, just adds to the atmosphere, along with the riverboat horn. One day I may even take a ride!

Things we don't like:
1- nothing!!

I love POR! It's definitely my favorite moderate resort! The grounds are gorgeous! The quiet pools are so relaxing! One of my favorite parts of staying at POR is walking down the paths in the morning to have breakfast at the food court. My parents always go earlier and then my brothers and I meet them. It's a perfect start to the day! I also love the horse and carriage that comes through at night! On the way back at the end of the night the walks from the bus stop can seem long depending how far your room is from the stop. One of the memories my family never lets me forgets is me tripping over my own feet and falling on one of the pathways! It's a great resort though! You will love it!

Never stayed there BUT I have visited and we love their food court and their grounds and the cast has been wonderful.

POR is a great resort. The grounds are very nice, good pool bar and good pool. The boat to Disney Springs is a plus, though it can get crowded and/or have a long wait. I don't particularly care for the food court - tons of options but largely lacking in quality, though it is no worse than most Disney QS.

Thank you everyone! I'm looking forward to my first stay at Port Orleans Riverside :)

Any suggestions on where I should ask for our room to be while there? I just booked a regular garden view room...Is there a real difference between the regular rooms and the royal rooms other than the décor?

We have the Poly booked in August and a part of me is still missing the fact we aren't staying at POR! Maybe that will change after the Poly trip? I loved that POR just felt like we were on vacation, not at a busy theme park. I enjoyed our room in Alligator Bayou. The landscape reminded me of our hotel on our Jamaica trip. We just loved it. :)

I have stayed at all the moderates and i would say that POR is probably my favorite. It is a big resort which could potentially mean lots walking, but it doesnt really bother me, and CSR is big too. I also think that the quick service is very good at POR. It just has a great atmosphere i think :)
