We are going Aug 1st - Aug 10 there is 5 in our family. Right now we have a great deal at the Poly from Aug 1-6 with the dining plan. We are then switching to AKL-Kidani 1 br villa- savannah view from Aug 6-10. I have always wanted to stay at AKL, but there a so few discounts on the savannah rooms. We will be paying $1940 just for the room. I know if we stayed at Poly with the dining plan we would save about $500 maybe more, I am wating to hear back from our TA. As much as I would love to stay at AKL, I am not thrilled with packing up our stuff to change rooms. Our youngest son has a lot of medical equipment, I think it would be too much of a hastle. Any thoughts?

As much as we love the AKL ( we prefer Jambo House tho :) I think the Price is a tad high and the thought of moving seems a bit overwhelming. We travel with Special Needs Family Members and find it best to stay put at one Resort. The Poly is great, you will be comfy and you'll save money
Maybe think about renting DVC points for Next Time and stay at the AKL

I love AKL and have done a couple AKL/Poly splits. The two resorts complement each other quite nicely.

However, if it's going to cost you more to move to AKV and you are already dreading the thought of having to move all your things, I would just stay at the Poly.

While there any many, many things I love about AKL, one of them is that it is less expensive than the monorail resorts. In your case, that's not true...

I totally understand your stress about moving mid-WDW trip. We like to feel that our WDW hotel room is our home away from home. I like to unpack everything, put up personal touches, order something special from Disney Florist. As much as I would like to try out all the different WDW resorts, a split stay is not appealing for me.

We love both resorts, but the Poly is my favorite so far. The transportations options are fantastic, so easy to get around. Staying at the Poly will spoil you for other resorts!

We have done spilt stays between PR and AKL. Like others have stated, they compliment each other very well. Overall, we preferred PR, so if AKL was costing more I would easily select to stay the entire time at the PR. Typically, PR cost more.

Thank you for all the replies!! I am leaning towards just doing the Poly. Part of the problem is there is 5 in our family so we have to get a villa at AKL. And disney is not really offering any good discounts for AKL-savannah view. I am glad you all seem to prefer Poly to AKL.

AKL is a great deal for us, but we fit into one room. I actually like AKL more, but the convenience of the Poly is a strong draw, as is the view of the castle from the beach. If you can't get a deal at AKL, I would wait until you can (or at least until it's less $$$ than staying on the monorail). Plus I love doing split-stays but there have been times where moving the luggage has taken longer than it should have, and I'd be concerned about letting move something as important as medical equipment.
