My daughter and I are traveling to WDW next March 2022. I know, crazy spring break time, but after 3 canceled and rescheduled trips that didn’t take place due to Covid, we are definitely going next March. Senior trip, so I told her we could stay at any resort she wanted. She’s so easy going, she said it’s up to me. Prior trips at deluxe hotels have been Contemporary (tower tpv), Wilderness and Beach Club (both standard views). Here are my only 2 requests: 1) ease of transportation to parks 2) a QS option that’s convenient

We loved WL because of Roaring Forks, but transportation was just ok, so not interested in returning there. Contemporary has always been my favorite but I’m all about trying something new too. Views at the resort are not a concern, so aside from a tower room at the Contemporary, most other reservations would be a standard or garden view.
Opinions and/or suggestions please!

For ease of transportation and convenient quick service, I really like the Poly and the Riviera. Even though the Riviera is DVC, the second bed in the studio is very comfy. You will have a wonderful trip, no matter where you stay!

Poly has definitely piqued an interest for sure. The only caveat I have is walking outside your log house to get to dining. But, I’ve never stayed there so maybe this really is a non issue?

It is an issue in the rain. 😏

The Beach Club puts you within walking distance to Epcot and the Skyliner to DHS. Since you have stayed at the Beach Club before, you know there’s not much of a food court compared to, let’s say, the Grand Floridian.

But unless you book a room in the main building, you have to walk uncovered outside to get to the food court

Since you thought transportation from the WL was just ok, then that limits you to one of the 3 Monorail Resorts or the 3 Crescent Lake Resorts.

Since you have tried either, I would suggest either the Poly or the Grand Floridian.

My recommendation would be the Boardwalk! Convenient walking to 2 parks! Especially one of the parks being Epcot! My daughter and I love walking around the world every night! Trying new snacks, etc... We had a pool view 1 bedroom last time and enjoyed the balcony overlooking the pool. Had our own dance party one night on the balcony listening to the DJ. Plus the boardwalk itself is fun at night too! Have a great trip!!

I love BWI but the OP stated that having a convenient Quick Service was important to them.

The Boardwalk Bakery is not convenient. No place to sit down inside and it is no fun when it’s too hot or raining, something that happens a bit at WDW. ;)

They are traveling in March, meaning it might be cold in the morning or evening. We were at WDW in late March this year, and had both rainy and cold weather. :(

If I was told “any resort my heart wanted” I would choose Riviera Resort any view because you have rooftop view included. This resort has availability because it is not sold out DVC yet. I hope they announce release of more rooms soon ... anyway I know $cash price$ is high But it won’t get cheaper.
The other choice that is beautiful is the new Grand Destino Tower w many restaurant choices, but only bus service available.
Happy planning!

Well, being next March I’m hoping and assuming everything will be open. That means quick pizza at BW, all the options at the Dolphin like Picasso’s, plus you’re within walking distance to 4 other resorts! Lots of options I’d say🤷🏻‍♀️

I would choose the Polynesian or Grand Floridian. You would have to walk outside for food though. Polynesians food court was a little better than GF with more choices and seating.

I've stayed at most of the deluxe, all but Poly (which we were supposed to stay at next month but obviously that's not happening). I really love the Epcot resorts for being able to walk to two parks, but if I were having to pick right now I'd go with Poly since it's gonna be pretty fresh off a complete make over. I know the CR rooms are getting one as well, but I do love Capt. Cooks a lot more than Contempo Cafe.

Okay, so if I were to choose the Poly, is there a certain room category that I should book that would get me the greatest chance of being closer to the Great Ceremonial house (I’m assuming that’s where quick service is 🤷‍♀️)? I have seen pics of the new refurb and I think it looks fabulous.
Thanks for all the info. Lots to consider!

My husband and I were looking at the marina/pool view rooms, and there was one building that had a short walkway to the main building so it wasn't far at all. I sometimes feel like the furthest are the TPV and the standard view, obviously the pools are kinda close to the building so those views will be as well (in my opinion, and from studying touring plans anyway).

Do you have a preference between MK and EP area? If not, I would choose one of the EP resorts- YC/BC/BWI. This allows for easy transportation to 2 parks (walk or boat) . I love the BWI and love their QS location, but it is outside so may not be convenient for you. If that’s a request, I would choose BC or YC and you will have 2 QS locations to choose from. Good luck with your planning!!

We were in Rarotonga (not sure I spelled that right) last trip and it was right next to the Great Ceremonial House.

Lot of things to consider. Which parks do you think you are going to spend the most time in? If it's anything other than MK, your options are the Epcot resorts, which are within walking distance of both Epcot and HS but don't have a QS per se. There is the BW Bakery and both YC and BC have a sort of grab and go and hot breakfast small hot lunch sort of set up. But if by the time you go, PH is not limited to after 2 and Epcot opens at 9 instead of 11, the sky is the limit there.

AKL is an option, you have to take the bus everywhere but they have a decent QS.

The monorail resorts are great for transportation if you are going to MK, currently you have to bus everywhere else. If the monorail to Epcot opens, you can monorail there but you are still going to have to bus to HS and AK.

Thanks for the heads up on the monorail. I realize my trip is 11 months away and many, many things can change and happen, but not having access to Epcot via monorail from the Poly would be a game changer for me. There are also just so many positive points about staying at an Epcot area resort. I knew BC had a grab and go sort of QS but hadn’t realized Yacht club did too. Thanks!

I would do BC. It doesn't get more convenient to be next to EP and the Skyliner entrance. Plus you have QS right off the main lobby. YC is also very nice with QS in the lobby, however, BC is closer to EP and the Skyliner. I don't find BWI very convenient in terms of QS as you have to walk outside to access the bakery and restaurants.

No one can be certain but I gotta believe the Monorail to Epcot will be open in 11 months.

Maybe WDW plans to surprise us with a brand new sparkly monorail to celebrate Anniversaries...but a new transport vehicle wrap design on monorails would be fun too. They can advertise HarmoniUS and write it off .
