We are looking into resales to add to our existing OKW points.

DH would love to buy resale at BWV and I would just like to buy same use year points at OKW..........

My reasoning.........easier to keep track of points and easier to make reservationns. OKW is great for us but we think when DD's get older they will want more excitment........

How do you keep track of ressies and points. do you have the same use years???

Thanks and any info on this topic is greatly appreciated!!

We have the same use year for both of ours(Sept). It does make it easier to keep track of(banking, borrwing, etc) points.. We use Dave's DVC point Mgr.(http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/dmfredrick/Download.html)
We like having the 11 month booking window for ressies at both homes. We also like having one on-site DVC (OKW) and one ocean front DVC (VB).

I own at Boardwalk (my original purchase) and Wilderness Lodge (a small add on). I have the same use year for both making it easier for me to keep track of points. What's funny is I haven't stayed at WLV yet. We always seem to end up at BWV or OKW.

We own at VWL and OKW
I have a notebook for each for example:
OKW UY JUNE 1 2002 - MAY 31 2003

Start June 1st 2002 200 points
Booked OKW vaca
1 week 7nocs
1bdr pts used 160 points
Remaining pts
for UY 2002 40 points

I also have a page for the following UY in case we borrow
In the front of each notebook I have the start date for the use yr
Banking deadlines and MS phone#

I know its not high tech/computer aged - but it works for me.

GOOD LUCK!:D

We bought at two resorts, BWV and VWL. We love the location of BWV for most of our trips and VWL at Christmas, so the 11 month window at both is beneficial. We wanted the same use year at both to keep banking, etc simple. So, when we bought VWL from Disney with a Septmeber use year, we simply requested of Jaki (atimeshare.com) that she let us know when a September BWV in our requested points became available - a couple months later we were closing(our resale never even hit the listings).
If you want to start planning for another resort, I would buy points there. Unless you are in a hurry, I would let a couple of the timeshare brokers know what you are after (resort, points, use year) and wait until what you want comes through.

Thanks for the info. We are looking at possibly 250 at BWV with a June use year. We have 230 at OKW now.

We like to stay 2 weeks and have been leaving the weekends to go to the west coast because of high points and that we don't have enough for a 2 BR. We bought resale and had a full year of banked points and now that is finally running out (got 3 years use of it!!).

Only thing I am not sure of is: If I decide to spend the entire 2 weeks (or longer) at BWV or OKW and not have enough points then I will have to wait until the 7 month to book the remaining time!! Correct??? Soooooooooooo, how do you work that out??

Thanks again.......

Yasuern--I like your method for keeping track of pts. I hate computers, don't trust them, even though you have to be computer literate now days. I don't understand the concept of using a computer, then backing it up with a hard copy--why not forget the computer, and just do the hard copy? You're my kind of person.

Now, compared to everyone else, I fly by the seat of my pants on pts. I started with one contract, added on to that use year, then added another contract and couldn't get the same use year as the other contract, and added on to that contract, too. Now I have a third contract in a totally different month, and that put me in the kill mode. My post-it method was overtaxed, so I am going to try Yasuern's system. Having different use years is good because we always have current points for whenever we want to go to see the Mouse, but it's hard for bookkeeping. We own at BWV and BCV, but I really want a small OKW in the future, which will further complicate things. If you keep things relatively simple, owning at two different resorts isn't hard. I wouldn't advocate for how I added points, though, because it's crazy:rolleyes:

If you're using points from both contracts, yes you'd have to wait until 7 months. However, you could also simply use banking/borrowing to get the points all at the same resort when you need them. For instance, if you wanted to go every other year to each resort, just bank the one you're not using and borrow from the other. So this year you are going to OKW, next year to BWV. Bank your BWV points and borrow OKW if necessary to combine with your current points to get the number you need. Next year, you'll have your banked BWV points to combine with the new ones to book there, and so on.

Alternatively, you can book the number of nights you can get a 11 months at your preferred resort, then the rest at the other. At the 7 month window attempt to switch the extra nights back to the preferred resort. Depending on the time of year, with the waitlist, it should work.

I own at both BCV and BWV (same use year). I take 2 trips per year, using my BCV points for my shorter trips in Dec, and my BWV points for my Jan/Feb trips. :)

We have points at VWL & VB. We use our VB points strictly for VB, and our VWL points for WDW. As more WDW DVCs are built, VB will get more and more difficult to book at 7 months.

It is a whole different ballgame when you have points at two WDW DVCs. Those who do, seem to like it.

Have fun.....

We have points at Vero Beach and Beach Club. It lets us make reservations at the 11 month window for each of the resorts, or combine all of the points for a bigger vacation at the 7 month window. We like to do split vacations, with time at WDW and time at the beach. We can save all out VB points with banking, and use our Beach Club points for different trips so that we can get a nice beach cottage in the 11 month window at peak season.

I have 4 contracts (2 for OKW, 1 from BCV and one from BWV) The 2 from OKW and the 1 BCV contracts have the same UY (December) ANd the BWV contract is an August UY.

I find the two that have the same UY (OKW and BCV) is the more confusing of the two, since you must always make sure MS is taking the right points, either OKW OR BCV..... whereas when I am making ressies with my August UY there is only on resort for them to pick from, BWV. This can get messy if ressies gets changed. (well it can always get a little messy when ressies are changed! LOL)

Anyway I love having the 11 month window at all my fave resorts. We may not need them now, but I am sure we will in the future! IMO Once SS opens up the 7th month window for BWV BCV and VWL will get a harder ticket more often than they are now!
