Opinions on type of stroller to bring...

We're going to Disney in October. I have my two and a half year old and 14 month old babies, so we will definitely be using the stroller. I just have to decide what type of stroller to bring with me. Is it better to take two single umbrella strollers so my husband and I can push them around separately? (We have a group we are going with, my MIL, SIL, BIL, and their three children also, so there are lots of "pushers" to go around). Or should I take the tandem stroller (front to back)?

We also have a side by side stroller, but I find that it is hard to get in doorways and down narrower paths.

Any advice on this is much appreciated. :)

I wouldnt bring an 'umbrella' stroller for your youngest, they are really hard to sleep in. I would look for something that will recline. For the older child, an umbrella would probably be fine, as long as you didnt expect too many naps. I would also want at least one basket for storage, which most umbrellas dont have?

I do have a cheaper graco stroller that is alot like an umbrella, folds down smal and lightweight, but has the basket, sunshade, and reclining seat. We really like it and are taking it next week.

Will you be using the buses? A double would be hard to carry up and down on the bus. If you were driving in a car, it wouldnt be as big of a deal. A double would also be nice to not have to keep track of two strollers.

Hope some of my rambling helped some! :rotfl:

Thanks, Staci! I didn't even consider the napping issue in an umbrella stroller.

We are getting a rented car for this trip, since we are all staying off Disney, but very close by. So bringing the stroller(s) on public transportation won't be an issue.

i have debated this back and forth for months now. I tend to obsess about things...lol. Anyway, we decided, after reading the many posts on this wonderful board about the subject, we are taking the tandem double for our 3 year old and 17 month old. Even though it will be a pain on the buses, we figured that the comfort of the children in the parks will make for a better vacation. All in all, the time getting on and off the buses is minute compared to the amount of time the kids will spend in the stroller.

Hope you have a great time!

I have a 3 year old and a 16 month old and I am taking two umbrella strollers because last year we went when they were 2 and 5 months with the double stroller and it was a nightmare and we stayed off site last year. It was just so hard to push around all day. When my 2 year old slept she would sleep on my DH anyway and we would just take a break and sit somewhere in the shade. Just my 2 cents though.

I appreciate all the input. I'm really struggling over this decision.

Maybe I should bring about five different types of strollers with me and be done with it. :cloud9:

Personally I think umbrella strollers should be fine. I know my kids sleep just fine in umbrella strollers. I have an adjustable one and if I try to recline it when my youngest is tired or asleep she'll wake up right away. I do recommend having a sun shade though...the glare of the sun can be bad all year round.

We opted to take our side-by-side double during our recent trip and that worked out well (our boys are 1 and 2). Our stroller is the same width as a wheelchair so it fit everywhere with ease. Overall we prefer to have just one stroller to push around, especially now that my oldest DS is walking longer distances so often the second stroller is empty. Since my boys aren't heavy it was no big deal using a double and it was nice that one of us always had hands free for shopping, etc. We did bring a single stoller in case we wanted to leave the 1 yr old at the resort with grandma but we never did use it.

Have a fun trip!

It is my opinion that whatever stroller works well for you at home will work well (best) for you at WDW. I've done it every which way, and I've found that large strollers are only minimally extra work than smaller strollers and much more convienent at the parks. But that is just my opinion.

We took a Peg P3 and a Mac Volo this time instead of the double and it worked out great! LOVE the Pliko P3! :lovestruc That stroller was worth every penny. The Mac was great, just had to be on alert for it to tip if something was hanging on the handles and one of the kids hopped out. Love both these strollers though. Since your group is big, go for two single strollers.

My kids are 6, 4 and 1. I am planning to take my umbrella stoller - it is a nice one - lays back and has a basket. I will then rent a stoller there for the other two to take turns with (or I might get a double). The strollers to rent are more comfy for the bigger kids and it will be easier for me travelling to just bring my small one.

Bring strller/s that recline. Both your kids are young enough to konk out on you and you want them comfy and cozy while they snooze. A toddler with a crick in his neck is never a pretty sight.

I only travel with our Maclaren Volo because it is so light. I think it may the only umbrella type stroller that has a basket also. I recently purchased the organizer that goes with it for extra storage. It doesn't recline however, but my daughter is not one to sleep in a stimulating environment like WDW. The new Volo's come with a canapy. The older version like my didn't but I bought one along with a seat pad from Maclaren. I have been really happy with it...hope this helps!

I have the Maclaren Volo with the canapy, seat cushion, and stroller organizer. When we travel it has been the best! We only use it for travel because it is super light and compact. We recently took a trip to DL and took our Graco Metrolite. DD didn't sleep when reclined, strangest thing! So only slept if she was sitting up.
