Opinions on Trail's End Buffet?

We're staying at WL from Jan. 30 - Feb. 4 so I thought this would be a convenient place to go for an early dinner one night, maybe on our way back out to the MK via boat. The price is certainly right & the menu looks like it would have something for everyone. I'm always a little leary of buffets, primarily that the food will not be hot and fresh.

All opinions on this restaurant welcome!!

I'm rather fussy about buffets for the same reason. We liked this place, though. The food was good and my kids loved the ribs. Of course had to explain to my son after he ate part of his dinner that they are called "PEEL" and eat shrimp for a reason.

We stay at WL a lot and enjoy the meal at Trails End, especially the breakfast. The evening meal is OK, but nothing to jump up and down about. Good thing is there is a lot of variety. The pizza and Fried Chicken are always good. Typically the food is always fresh as they serve lots of people.

Dont know if you have tried it or not, but Whispering Canyon at WL is very good. The skillet is what we get. And its a hoot to eat there.

Enjoy your stay at WL. Its so peaceful there.

I ate at Trail's End once. I will never go back. It was late in the night and the food was old and not very good. If you go, remember the rule, eat early at buffets. You get the freshest food that way. As for convenient, the whispering canyon cafe is the most convenient. I would go to Roaring Forks before I would go to Trail's end. JMHO!!

We ate lunch there and it really wasnt worth the bus rides to get there. Just about all the food was cold and sat out for awhile. The only thing that we ate was the chicken. It was so bad the waiter didnt charge me for the kids food and gave them a bag to take home with bakery stuff. cookies and rice krispy treats. I would never waste ddp credits there but would go to whispering canyon instead.

I agree with most of the other posters - the food wasn't that good to go out of your way to eat. We were there for lunch and the food was mediocre at best.

We ate there when both our dd's were under 3 and so they were free for the dinner buffet. There was a decent selection of items, and we got there right around when they opened for dinner so the food was hot and fresh. I think the price is good in general for a disney buffet, but I don't feel like I got my money's worth out of it. As another poster said, I would not go out of my way to eat there. During that trip we were staying at WL and had walked over to FW on our first night to check out the petting zoo, etc, and it made sense to just stop in for dinner.

We eat here on every trip that we stay at the campground. It has been good every time we went. Sevice was also good. We like breakfast and lunch and dinner. My kids also liked it as well. :)

Trail's End is probably one of the best deals on Disney property concerning food. We think the food is good and have had great service each time we go there.

We ate there the first night of our trip last December. The food was hot and fresh. We especially liked the fried chicken. My husbands birthday was 2 days before and the waiter overheard us talking about it and at the end of the night he brought my DH a HUGE peice of strawberry shortcake. He was by far the best waiter we had on the whole trip, the kids loved him. The only complaint that I really had was that it was very crowded and we had to wait a long time in the buffet line to get our food, other than that it is a good bang for your buck.

Thanks everyone. Maybe we'll just give WCC a try as it seems to be getting better reviews. I'll have to think about it.............

We went to the Trail's End buffet for breakfast last year and were very disappointed. The Trail's End was not so easy to get to, but because it had received great reviews we made the trek out....I found it to be very "undisney" like in that the staff was somewhat rude and very inattentive. There were not too many people there when we arrived, but had to wait and ask 2 hostesses to seat us. The waitress told us to help ourselves to the buffet and then never came back with our coffees. I asked 2 other waitresses for coffee since ours seemed to be MIA and they were equally as unresponsive. We ended up having to ask the one nice hostess for help and when we had finished our breakfast the coffees arrived. The food was okay, but many of the trays were empty and needed refilling. We are really not picky but would never waste our time going back there. We loved the breakfast at Whispering Canyon and think it's a better choice.
