Hey there everyone. So I have Disney and Halloween on the brain. I have been trying to figure out what we are going to be for the TOT party but I'm running into some issues with my DH. DD 8 is going to be Jack Skellington (she wanted to be Darth Vader until she saw the Jack costume lol). I found a gorgeous custom on Ebay and I'm buying it for her so she's all set. Now, I'm trying to figure out costumes for me, DH, and DS 18 months (22 months at trip time). I had the idea of doing Lock, Shock, and Barrel to go with DD but my husband is afraid no one will get who we are. I told him Nightmare Before Christmas fans would understand and who cares if others don't. However, he's being a pain in my behind. So, then I suggested we go with another Tim Burton movie and do a Corpse Bride theme with us and and have DS be Barrel as I think that would be easiest to do with him. But then he complained that no one would know who he was. That the Corpse Bride is all cool because she's rotting but Victor is just a groom and he's alive. I'm having a difficult time talking him into anything. I was wondering if you all agree with him that the characters would be too unrecognizable or do you think it would be ok? Or do you have any other ideas? I'm open to suggestions. Also, I apologize for the rambling.

I think you will get more recognition at Nightmare Before Christmas than you will as Corpse Bride. Especially with the NBC overlay on the Haunted Mansion.

DS and I went as Jack Skellington and Sally. Nearly everyone knew who we were. Some called me a rag doll, but most knew who Sally was.

Well, I would know who you guys were! lol But I am a HUGE fan of the movie! :) I think that that is a very cool idea (Lock, Shock & Barrel to go with Jack) & I for one would be very impressed if I saw the 4 of you dressed up like that.
With the Haunted Mansion Holiday there are alot of NBC fans in the parks & there is a TON of NBC merch everywhere as well. Granted, there isn't alot with Lock, Shock & Barrel on it but there was some last year. Mainly figurines & such but it was there. I personally think that characters from that movie would be more recognizable than from Corpse Bride (although for the record, I think that is a cool idea as well).
Good luck!!!! :thumbsup2

I don't know if this helps, but.....

No one had a CLUE who I was except for the person I went for. And he is the person the entire costume was created for, he knew EXACTLY what it was, and that was all that really mattered.

Who cares what people you don't know and will probably never see again think? If your family likes your costumes, that's all that really matters.

Just my opinion,
Dreams

Thank you everyone for your replies. Dreams FWIW I totally agree with you. I'm just having a hard time getting my husband to agree. I'm going to show him this thread so hopefully he'll come around. :)
