I'd like to hear people's opinions on Port Orleans Riverside Resort. I just upgraded my reservation from POP Century to POR. I have never stayed in any of the value or moderate resorts before. From the posts that I have read, it seems to be a nice place but I was hoping to get a thread dedicated to POR since I can't seem to find one on the boards. Thanks in advance for your input!!

My family and I have stayed at POR and are anxiously awaiting our next trip in August. Once again we will be staying at POR. POR is my DH's favorite hotel. We have stayed at other moderates and of course, had to do All Star Movies (Toy Story) for my two DS's when they were addicted to Woody and Buzz. We love the atmosphere of POR. My DS's love the pool and Bob the piano player. We love taking the boat down to DD. The food court is pretty good and Boatwright's is great. We have stayed in Magnolia Terrace, Parterre Place and have requested Oak Manor for our upcoming trip. Actually, we will stay anywhere in Magnolia Bend. My DH loves the mansions. We love the southern charm of the resort. I can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel.
Enjoy your trip and you will not be disappointed with POR.

Many stays as a child

My family and I made our first trip with our kids (5 and3) in May and we absolutely loved POR. We would definately go back! Some of the buildings can be kind of remote in terms of the main building and bus stops but we were able to fix that by hopping in our car and driving to the main bldg bus stop. If you don't have a car, hold out for a very close building. The staff is very accomodating.

You made a great choice, you won't be disappointed but you will be amazed!

I guess we kinda like it (we've stayed there every year since it opened, but it will always be Dixie Landings to us) Beautiful grounds, five pools, boat to DTD, horse and buggy rides, good restaurant. Make sure you see Bob Jackson in the lounge one night. He's the best. When we arrive we feel like we're coming home. I know you'll be happy there.

I agree, POR is fabulous. We have only stayed there 3 years in row, not as many times as ILUVDXL, but we loved it. IT IS just like "coming home", with its charm, friendly faces, landscape, etc. Tell my ducks I said hello and I miss them!!!!!:)

We got back 3 weeks ago. I really liked this resort. I would definitely go back again.

We'll be staying there July 20-26 for the first time. From everything I heard it sounds great. We need an AB room (3 kids) so I'll let you know how they are. We booked a carriage ride and can't wait to try the pool and the boat ride to DTD. Also really looking forward to hearing Bob Jackson for the first time. I was originally nervous about trying a moderate after deluxes but it sounds really great. ALso the deluxes didn't have a playground the the POR one looks like a lot of fun for the kids!

I stayed for 7 nights last November in the mansions and loved it. It really is a charming and quiet resort that is very pleasant to walk around. I really did love it and would encourage you to stay there at least once.

Sunkissed......Myself, DH, and 3 DDs ages 12 1/2, 8 and 4 1/2 were there last month this time....5/30-6/4. We absolutely loved it. I had stayed at POFQ so knew this would be a nice property but didn't realize how much we would enjoy it. Some have said it is too spread out for them but we really like it. We loved all the trees, little walkways, bridges, pond, ducks, squirrels--everything. The food was very good in the food court, bus service was great, mousekeeping was great. The only thing that I would say I had a problem w/was finding our room. We stayed in the Alligator Bayou due to 5 people and needing a trundle bed. We were in bldg 28, which is kinda behind the parking lot and then our room was was at the back of the building. When we first arrived and were going to unload our luggage, it took me a while to find it. Of course the fact that it was 10:30 at night and we had been at MK all day and were dead dog tired was a factor too I'm sure! :o But the next day we found if we walked down the sidewalk a little further, and took a little turn, we were right at our door and then loved it. I think you will too!! Have a great time!!!

I am glad to hear so many great things about POR. We will be there next July for 11 nights and are so excited!!
