Opinions on Park Hopper vs. Single Park Admission

Oh that's great info. Thanks! Where can I upgrade if we decide to do that? And can I upgrade for only 1 of the days? (Of a 3 day pass)
No. The upgrade fee is the same whether you do it on the first day or the last. Unless it has recently changed, the upgrade should be $40. It's not per day, it's per ticket.

Our first visit in 2013, we had four-day, one park per day tickets. We did three days at DL and one at DCA and, because we hadn't done our research, we never even got on RSR that trip (waiting 70 minutes for a thing on our ONE day in that park wasn't a good use of time and we didn't realize that FPs would run out so quickly). If we'd had hoppers, we'd have been able to go back to DCA at will without having to spend an entire day there. Now we always get hoppers (well, now we have APs, but when we do buy tickets).

Hoppers are nice, the parks are so close that it takes no time to go from one to the other. But I agree with the previous posters that have said that hoppers are not really needed on your first trip - especially with just 3 days and your kids being so young. I would want to take my time at DL so I would do 2 days there and one at DCA. We get hoppers but do not use them very often - usually to catch a parade or go to dinner or if one of the parks closes early. Changing BB to a later time would not be too bad since then your DD will be all done up when it is cooler - my nieces did it in the AM and changed out of their dresses after lunch since they were uncomfortable in the heat.

We will be taking my 2 kids (4 yr & 1 yr) to Disneyland soon and I'm wondering if the Park Hopper option is worth it.

Unfortunately I booked my daughter's Bibbidy Bobbidi Boutique appointment for the day that DL does not have a Magic Morning (it's at DCA).

I hadn't been planning to get the Park Hopper option (extra $120 for 3 days), but now I'm wondering if it would be worth doing. Or I could reschedule her appointment for the day before, though appointments were much more limited that day and we wouldn't be able to be seen until the afternoon. I have a morning appointment right now.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

I was curious about your mention of Magic Morning. Are you staying at a DL owned hotel? If you are not staying at a DL owned hotel you can only use your MM one day and only at Disneyland (Tue, Thurs, Sat). I just wanted to clarify this incase you thought you were giving up your MM to DCA by going to DL instead.

When my oldest daughter was not yet three and our son was only a few weeks old we went to DL for four days. We opted not to purchase park hopping that trip. It was basically the same cost to buy 4 day non hoppers as it was to buy 3 day hoppers, and we decided the extra day was better than hopping. We really didn't miss hopping. And it is hard with young kids to go between the parks. You may be planning to go back to your hotel for a midday nap as it is, and all that traveling adds up and takes away from your limited time in the parks. There really is enough for you to do for a whole day at DCA and two whole days at Disneyland. You won't be able to do it all at either park. Park hopping is a nice convenience, but if we weren't purchasing APs for our upcoming trip, we wouldn't be getting parkhoppers. It's pretty easy to find something to do all day at the same park, and we really don't hop that often because it does take up time. We all love DCA and there are quite a few fun things for little ones, and they do seem to love Bugsland.

I usually get park hoppers, but my husband and I are going with our son in November and he will be just over 2. Because of that we don't feel it's neccesary this trip. We plan (of course who knows what will happen when we actually get there!) to take a nap break midday, so with that in mind, and knowing it will be a slower pace with a child, I don't think we would utilize them enough to warrant the extra money! :)

OP. you say "extra $120 for 3 days", which makes me think that you might be thinking the park-hopper is $40 per day? the charge for a park-hopper is not per day, its $40 per pass. So if you have a 3 day pass, you pay a total $40 extra for a park hopper.

i am not sure why you want to schedule the BBB on a magic morning? if its magic morning at DL, i would assume it will be crowded.

I could also read the extra $120 as the amount to get ParkHoppers for the group of 3 people.

We have done both and generally I get hoppers when it's a short trip and do 1 park per day tickets when it's a longer trip because it's cheaper.

I think you really have to think about what your plans are regarding touring the park and go from there.
