We have always done our Disney trips in the fall or December; however, we cannot go this year  There is no way I will make it all the way to next September without a WDW trip.

I am thinking about March, April or May. I want to avoid school vacation weeks and holiday times - we are not used to crowds at WDW and won't cope well. Can we swim in March? Will it be hot in May?

Opinions and tips from anyone who has visited during spring would be appreciated!

The first half of May is usually okay. Lighter crowds. Weather is usually nice although can be extremely hot or cool. We've experienced seasonal, hot, and cool weather during different trips at the same time of year. Went the last week of April 05 and crowds were horrible. I think some state (NJ?) had spring break. In March and April you can expect to run inwo Spring breaks and Easter.

In late April and early May, you can expect to run into "grad nites" at the MK.

Best wishes -

march to the middle of April is spring break (really until the first week in May - but not many schools).

March is either cold in the pools - or hot and very, very crowded.

May is nice - plus you can add the flower and garden festival and Star Wars weekend!!!

Last year we went the last week in April & it was great weather during the day & had some nice thunderstorms at night. It didn't seem too crazy there.

Goofy4dvc, I don't know how to put a quote up on this board but this year the school break was the last week of April in N.Y. We were one of the families making it so crowded this year :earsboy: The school breaks are different each year, it doesn't make any sense but that's NY for ya. We made very efficient use of the fastpass and had a great time without feeling too crowded in. The weather was great and College Spring break was over by 4/20/05 so I didn't feel it was too bad. A good way for future trips if your flexible is to search the internet for state school break times. I did that before this past trip and would have changed plans if most schools were out that week. I hate crowds :earseek: May is a bit hot for me,but a friend of mine always goes in May and feels the crowds are very light. Any month/day in WDW is better than being at home!

Our visits have been limited to January, February, May September, October and December. So far May is hands-down my favorite. In early-May you get the Flower & Garden fest, low crowds and weather typically in the 80s. Yes, it can get humid, but I'll take a little heat over the sweatshirt & jacket weather in December / January. Just doesn't feel like a vacation to me when I'm forced into a coat and gloves. :sad2:

Seems to me you are going to have a difficult time avoiding school breaks in March/April. You actually get two groups of Spring Breakers -- the families with small kids, and the college kids. Spring Breaks are so scattered, I'd guess that just about every week in March and early April is Spring Break somewhere.

The weather in May may be warm, but you are not likely to have the oppressively hot and humid weather that you have in August/September. I know if you're from up north 90 degrees and 70% humidity sounds oppressive, but trust me, it's not. Wait until you experience the 95/95 days in late summer!

I have gone in early May to late May. I may have never gone in March. Occassionally I have run in Spring Break and / or Daytona crowds. The weather when I've been there has always been fine except for this year when I went in late May; it was hot, lower 90s. It probably wouldn't have been so bad but temps back home were in the mid-60s and the 25 degree difference was noticable. Crowds seem to depend on what events where going on (Daytona, Spring Break, graduation trips, etc), but for the most part, they were not not bad. I think it is better to go in early May than in late May but my experience has been limited as most of my trips have been early May and the one experience in late May not be representative of how things normally are for late May. I also think it was more crowded in late May than in early May but that is a subjective feel. You might try this site as indicator of how busy the parks may be.

Thanks to all for the feedback. Looks like I will aim for the beginning of May. Yeah...a WDW trip to start planning!

I have also made most of my trips to WDW in May. Try for early in the month if you can. The days can be hot but the humidity is usually at a reasonable level.

Crowds are not bad either. Have a great trip!

Of those months, we have only ever gone at the end of May (over Memorial Day). It was very hot and quite crowded, so the beginning of the month sounds like a better bet.

Just allow a couple of weeks after Easter and the crowds won't be bad. I think Easter is late next year but don't have a calendar in front of me. We had moderate crowds this year at the end of April.

Easter is either very near or on tax day next year. I think it is actually 4/15/06.

We have gone in early May and have enjoyed both the weather and the crowd levels.

We tend to go to WDW at least twice a year--in the fall and spring. In the spring we've been anywhere from early March to Mid May. We avoid Spring Break like the plague. With that said, early March can have some cool days but the pools are heated and the parks are great on those cool days. Anything past mid May is likely to be too hot for our tastes but could be fine for yours.

Personnally, I don't see you having any problems going in that time frame as long as you avoid Spring Break.
